I mean they're the Cowboys so they are going to bring the viewers but I thought for sure it was gonna be the Commies or Lions getting that opening night game against the Eagles.

The Lions averaged more viewers than the Cowboys last year. The Lions averaged the most viewers in the NFL. The opening game is always going to have high ratings no matter the team. Save the Lions for an average Monday night when they need ratings.

Yeah, I thought the Lions. I saw a talking head on TV say the NFL didn't like scheduling division games the first week. He was wrong...

The Commanders are a good watch.  Besides when they come to our house and beat us.  I would root for that QB any other Sunday.

The Lions did just get an opening day game a few years ago so it's entirely possible they are just trying to spread the love around a bit.

It's just fine with me. Hopefully, when we are scheduled to play Phiily, they'll have some players out. Let's see some other NFC teams try to navigate thru the season with the amount of injuries the Lions had last season.

Other games are being leaked....and surprise, surprise. Kansas City plays on Christmas Day.....again.

Honestly I'd prefer my team does NOT play on Christmas. Too much other stuff going on then.

And it's a Thursday this year. I'm not a fan of late season short weeks.

the league seems to be treating the lions like the old lions.  that no one is interested or this is a flash in the pan.

no international games when they have an obvious link to germany with a star player who is half german and speaks the language.

no xmas games.

no early release dates so far.

the lions were a great story the last two years and the league has ignored them so far.

The Lions were the most watched team last year. Those holiday games attract viewers regardless of the team. They’re saving the Lions for when they need viewers.

the cowboys and chiefs were two of the most watched teams last year and every year and theyve had multiple announcements and will also be on "when they need viewers."

I mean, the Lions just got the Fox game of the week on opening day and we already know the Lions are playing on a holiday. The Lions will have multiple Monday Night, Sunday Night, and possibly a Thursday Night. They’ll have some afternoon starts as well.

the lions will get plenty of good games in good time slots.

but they havent announced anything yet.  they just announce cowboys and chiefs games, and give international games to teams no one cares about.

seems stupid to me.

That’s not the vibe I’ve gotten at all. Networks fighting over the lions. At Lambeau to start the season for game of the week.  They shouldn’t get Xmas. They have thanksgiving.

I agree that no Germany is a big swing and miss, but i assume they will be there next year.
