I really dislike that whoop/shriek/whatever that gets played over the sound system after every strikeout. not least of all because it reminds me of the "fast zombie" call in Half-Life 2.

Remember the BOYD!! call? That used to be kinda irritating. But I bet both of them upset the guy who just struck out even more...lol

Do not like the Roku broadcast.

Yeah, a bunch of guys who don't know each other's pace, and Dan's getting stepped on a lot.

Benetti really is struggling on radio...

I’m petty sure Jason has been primarily if not exclusively a TV guy for most of his career. It’s a different skillset and some never make the adjustment.

I remember when ESPN Radio would let Chris Berman do “play-by-play” for at least one postseason series every year and be completely useless at it.

It was a 1-2 count that Greene took. I looked it up. Torres reaction was not a straight steal. He was out by a mile.

It was a 1-2 count when Torres went. It was very obviously a straight steal, he just had a bad jump.

Any national broadcast is going to have flaws. Either you try to match up local guys like Roku and end up with this kind of stuff or you use dedicated crews like Fox/TBS/ESPN and have booths where the chemistry is okay but they never really know about any team in depth.

Maybe they should just have each team’s regular TV crew call half of each national broadcast. But of course then you’d have fans pissed off at having to listen to “enemy” announcers for half the game.

He does NFL and March Madness games on radio, and I'm pretty sure on his way up  he did radio, but he probably hasn't done much radio in the pitch clock era. His meandering is entertaining, but causes him to lose track on the radio.
