lordstanley Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Big hit by Tork. It would have been discouraging to put the first two men on but come out of the inning without runs. 2-0 Tigers. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Riley is going thru it. 7 of his last 9 at bats are strikeouts. Yeah, let's bat him cleanup. 😌😌 Quote

I haven't found/ looked for any data on this but it just seems like his bat is in the zone for less time then others. Just a lot of swing and miss. The other thing is it looks like he doesn't have a gameplan of how to attack the pitcher each at bat and just tries to hit everything. Quote
IdahoBert Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Riley’s average swing path of 45 degrees is the highest in the Majors this year, according to Statcast, two degrees higher than Freddie Freeman at No. 2. And he’s doubling down about not changing it. Quote

IdahoBert Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Tork is the only first baseman I watch much because I don’t watch other teams games and don’t pay that close of attention to our opponents, but he seems to be fairly decent and make a lot of plays. He doesn’t seem to fumble the bang bang plays that are important to handle. Quote

A change that significant probably doesn’t happen in a single day, and he will be playing live games in between sessions. Quote
lordstanley Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Greene needed that. Not hard hit, but at least he gets on base. Quote
chasfh Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Inside-out double by Riley, which is how struggling hitters hit doubles. Quote
IdahoBert Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Tigers got some help from the BABIP gods in the third but couldn’t cash in when Tork popped out. Quote
chasfh Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I swear, Chicago must be one of the gamblingest cities in the country, because literally every pod has at least one gambling commercial, and there are a bunch of different casinos that advertise here. Quote
lordstanley Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Tork could have given us the healthy lead we need against the mighty Cubs offense. Quote
RandyMarsh Posted June 8 Posted June 8 You may go another 2 weeks to a month before you get a pitch that hittable again if you're a big leaguer. Quote
chasfh Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) Catches Suzuki looking, now we are in range of an inning-ending GIDP. EDIT: and Pete thwarts that, as if we were going to get him on the back end anyway. Happ looked out at the plate because the throw definitely beat him, but he might have slipped in before the tag. Hopefully inconclusive. Edited June 8 by chasfh Quote
