Oof. This is a lot to give up for a rental RP, more than I would be willing to give up.

Yeah that would be the equivalent of something like Holton, Hao-Yu Lee, and, I don't know, Dylan Smith? Something like that. Butto was sixth on the Mets' bullpen chart, and Holton is a setup guy, but their bullpen is far deeper for them to deal from than we could have. So if this was the price point that won, we probably could not have reasonably beaten it.

You think Kwan nets a pair of Clark/McGonigle level prospects? I don't. Maybe he could net one, but what do I know in the end. I think he's a really nice player, but he's not an elite, top 50 player in the MLB this season. I don't see his production this year as a guy worth two of our top 5 guys that are currently in the MLB top 100. I think Liranzo is the highest I would go on the prospect pecking order to give up to Cleveland.

I would package a deal that was something like Liranzo/Anderson/Rodriguez for Kwan or Kwan + a reliver.

No, more like a pair top 40 and a top 100 prospect-not 2 top 10.

16 Defensive Runs saved this year.... Thats, A LOT. Dude is winning games with that glove. I think defense matters more than some people think. Pitching and Defense wins championships.

That is a lot-still not close to 2-3 hits per game that you said.

Aren't Ortiz and Clase about to get banned from baseball for betting? Not that Ortiz is some dynamite starter, but losing Clase will be a big loss. But given where Cleveland is at right now, given that the division is down as a whole, and given that they might lose two pitchers permanently, it seems like a rebuild could be in their future. Or maybe a retool if they lose Clase. But if they lose Clase, is Cleveland really going to go big on the open market to try and replace him?M aybe they don't want to do it though and they'll just keep plugging along.

Per mlb.tv Cleveland said they are not offering up Kwan, and would have to be blown away with an offer. I would think that probably starts with Clark. I love Kwan, but I don't see Harris offering a "blow em away" trade.

There’s zero reason to trade Clark for Kwan.  Clark is Kwan with a lot more upside.

Twins just got Mick Abel (92 prospect overall) and Eduardo Tait (56 prospect overall) for Jhoan Duran....... CRAZY good deal for the Twins. Absolutely crazy good deal for the Twins.

If Phillies don't win the WS, Dombrowski should be fired.

So our comp package would have been Melton and Briceno/Liranzo? Assume not many would have been interested in that.

Neither of these Phillies prospects made Fangraphs Mid Season top 100. They have FVs of 45 and 40.

I don't even think that'd be enough.....  Tait should be a starting catcher and Abel is a potential #1 (more likely #2 starter). Crazy good deal for the Twins.

I would’ve said yes to that in less than 2 seconds.

These guys are legit prospects. I don't agree with Fangraphs on this at all. Which usually I'm one of the biggest fangraphs fans out there......

I think that’s a fair price for him- 2 plus years of affordable control for one of the best relievers in the game.

I don’t know much about this stuff, but the MLB site is leading me to believe that all the “good“ relievers are being snapped up quickly. I don’t know how much of this is real or smoke mirrors. I hope the Tigers do something good.

The guy who pitched today Paddack was good. I hope he can keep it up but one of the reasons he was available is that he hasn’t been able to keep it up so I guess we’ll see.

I wish we would’ve gotten Heasley or Duran at their respective costs.

Hoping we are in on Jax, Cade Smith (if available) and/or Bednar-the first 2 would cost a lot more-Smith maybe a bit more than Duran.  Bednar shouldn’t cost one of our top 6, but multiple of the next group

In today's GT, Lee posted some interesting stats regarding Paddack's starts this year. He's susceptible to soiling himself on occasion, but he's pretty solid overall.
