I still hope they are not done even if it's just another guy at his level. Considering the cost Finnegan not a bad option. He's made 40 appearances and allowed no runs in 31 of those, 1 run in 5 others and multiple runs in 4 games, three of which came this month. Before July 10 his ERA was 2.36, with a FIP of 3.24. Hopefully he can shake off July. 1 Quote
Tigermojo Posted yesterday at 05:47 PM Posted yesterday at 05:47 PM Pittsburgh might prefer to keep Bednar for next year. He's not eligible for free agency until 2027. Quote

CMU97 Posted yesterday at 05:53 PM Posted yesterday at 05:53 PM Finnigan seems like one of those deals that for years most all of us would say, "man, it only took that much to get that guy? Why weren't we in on him?" Well, this year we were. DD had a good habit of trading prospects for established stars who never did much. The one example that always sticks out to me is getting Gary Sheffield for three players who totaled 8 games played and a -.5 war in the majors. AA had the same strategy, but reverse. Trade our veterans for guys who did next to nothing. I think (hope), SH is going to follow the DD formula. Quote

I hope there's another deal to come before the deadline, but my gut says they're probably done. Sewald would be a solid addition if healthy, but I have leaned never to expect anything from a pitcher coming off an injury. He's OK as a cheap pickup, but I wish they had acquired one more healthy reliever. They still might, but I suspect not. Quote

Pitching well this year at AAA in the PCL. Stick him in Toledo and go from there. Quote
