holygoat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Anyone know what's going on with Karsch and Anderson? It's odd for 97.1 to schedule both hosts off on non-holidays, and these chuckleheads covering for them are unlistenable. I hope it's not a medical issue or some other unpleasantness. Quote
theroundsquare Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) was there one of them that had a better chair? on a halfway related note, to my own surprise, i haven't listened to sports talk radio, outside of actual game broadcasts, since the pandemic started. back then, i didn't want to hear a bunch of yahoos who knew even less than the people who were supposed to know talk about the pandemic. in my mind, that extended into sports. the various hosts don't know more about the tigers than i do. in fact they demonstrated many times that they knew less. i didn't find it entertaining anymore, just annoying. IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I am blessedly innocent of confidently-offered sports talk radio given how far away I live from Detroit, like 2000 miles far away. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 It’s not like I’m intrinsically against sports talk radio, although for the most part I am, but it just seems to be little more than the syringe through which advertising is delivered, so to that degree it rubs me the wrong way from the start. Quote
Arlington Posted July 22 Posted July 22 The last time I really listened to a sports talk radio show the subject was Lance Parrish. Callers wanted to send him down and give that kid Marty Castillo a chance. Quote
Toddwert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 in related news seems like Mark Gorsh got the can from his and Evans podcast... mustve made someone unhappy at the free press Quote
tiger2022 Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Talk radio and junk like espn with the stupid talk shows where some d-bag throws out his opinion like it's 100% the truth is kind of like a message board...oops...wait...kind of like this except we don't get paid and most of us don't take ourselves seriously. lordstanley Posted July 22 Posted July 22 The last time I really listened to sports talk radio it seems 40% of the airtime was devoted to people impatiently waiting for Drew Henson to start games. 1 Quote
holygoat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I quite like 97.1s afternoon and drive-time shows. I find them entertaining. Quote

I don't remember exactly what it was. It was nothing egregious, but something you can't get away with when representing the Free Press. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I remember back in the good old days earlier in this season when we were a team incapable of losing any more than three games in a row and I got to post stuff about six runs frequently. Ahhh, those were the days. Quote

IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Every team in the Central for the last 10 games has been playing either .500 or better. Except for our team. Quote

IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 The Tigers were swinging early toward the end of that first inning at least Riley didn’t strike out. And there was no one on first and there was already two out so at least it didn’t result in a double play. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Pirates get a lead off single so the no hitter nonsense is off the board for both teams Quote
