Using the term “pop-up storms“ which I’ve never heard. When I grew up in the Midwest, I never paid attention to the weather because it rained all the time it didn’t seem necessary to elucidate on what type of rain.

I have since spent the last 52 years in the arid climates of Southern Arizona and Southern Idaho and rain is insignificant enough here that there’s no reason to name the types of rain we get.
