lordstanley Posted Sunday at 04:14 AM Posted Sunday at 04:14 AM Someone, anyone needs to win this in OT. A tie is the worse result for the Lions. Quote
TP_Fan Posted Sunday at 04:15 AM Posted Sunday at 04:15 AM Dan Campbell cannot look any worse after this. The coach who will never ever try an onside kick and loses every time is shown up by his OC who does onside kicks. Quote
TP_Fan Posted Sunday at 04:18 AM Posted Sunday at 04:18 AM Dan Campbell gives up every game, refuses to ever try an onside. Ben Johnson isn’t a quitter. That’s the difference in the coaching. Quote
TP_Fan Posted Sunday at 04:28 AM Posted Sunday at 04:28 AM This is what well coached teams look like. The opposite of the lions. Quote

lordstanley Posted Sunday at 04:31 AM Posted Sunday at 04:31 AM Holy cow. This might have matched the 4th quarter and OT of Rams-Seahawks. 1 Quote
Tenacious D Posted Sunday at 04:32 AM Posted Sunday at 04:32 AM Was surprised to come here and find out that this outcome was Dan Campbell’s fault. 1 4 Quote

The Bears have multiple comeback wins this year. Its a magic season for them. So...in order for the Lions to still win the division, Chicago need to lose next week in SF and against the Lions in the last game. And Detroit needs to win the next 2 to get there. Oh..and Green Bay needs to lose one game. Quote

GalagaGuy Posted Sunday at 04:38 AM Posted Sunday at 04:38 AM Bears are not beating the 49'ers and I can see the Packers losing one of their remaining games. Lions win out and take the division. Quote

papalawrence Posted Sunday at 04:53 AM Posted Sunday at 04:53 AM Rodgers wants tomorrow so bad. He recently called his hail Mary vs Det his favorite pass of his career. Detroit needs to play their A+ game tomorrow to keep the hope alive Quote

The Lions aren’t trying to break a making the playoffs drought, they’re trying to break a making the Super Bowl drought. Easier to do that as a #3 seed with at least home game than as a #7 seed needing to face 3 top opponents on the road. A Packers loss keeps Lions’ division title hopes alive. If that means the Lions could go 11-6 and still miss the playoffs all together,so be it. Quoting from this week’s GDT, but I think this is exactly right. Some people will be upset we don’t control our own destiny, but what does that really mean if we get bounced in the wildcard round? Getting the Niners at home, then maybe even hosting a second home game before the NFCCG, feels like a much more plausible path to the Super Bowl than having to go on the road to Philly, Seattle, and LA, SF, or Green Bay. For the sake of argument, say we beat Pittsburgh and Minnesota, because if we don’t, we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. If both Green Bay (vs. Ravens) and Chicago (@ 49ers) lose next week, then we are looking at a situation where the winner of Detroit/Chicago will win the North. Either Detroit at 11-6 via tiebreaker or Chicago at 12-5… The loser will likely either be the 7-seed if Green Bay loses to Minnesota, or more likely would be eliminated entirely. Yet another Sunday Night Football finish in week 18?! The Niners still have the Colts, Bears, and Seahawks too, so it’s not out of the realm of possibility the Lions will make the playoffs even if the Packers and Bears win next week. But I think today helped the Lions. 1 Quote
Sports_Freak Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Do we need the Ravens to win or lose today to make their game next week against Green Bay to mean anything? Quote

It’s complicated but I’m rethinking my calculus from earlier where I said there was a situation there would be nothing for the Ravens to play for. If the Lions win today the Steelers will be 8-7. If Ravens lose today: Ravens would be 8-7. Which means win or lose for both teams in week #17, it would come down to week #18. But since the Steelers beat the Ravens in their first matchup, the Ravens would need some tiebreaking help. In the division, the Steelers/Browns game next week would matter to that. So too early to tell. If the Ravens win today: they are 9-6, a game up, and could clinch the division next week with a win and a Steelers loss to the Browns. Ravens and Packers play on Saturday Night, so they won’t know yet. All that being said, I don’t think it matters. Ravens will want to beat the Packers. Quote
Motown Bombers Posted Sunday at 04:59 PM Posted Sunday at 04:59 PM (edited) The Ravens are 7-7. A loss puts them at 7-8 and still one game behind Pittsburgh. Edited Sunday at 05:00 PM by Motown Bombers Quote
Motown Bombers Posted Sunday at 05:05 PM Posted Sunday at 05:05 PM The Lions path to the division is not that far fetched. All they would need is the Ravens (or Vikings) to be the Packers while the 49ers beat the Bears. Lions handle their business and the division is theirs. Quote

You’re right of course. I rabbit holed this. If the Ravens win and Steelers lose, the Ravens would hold the tiebreaker against Pittsburgh with a Week #18 win because of common opponents. Baltimore beat Chicago, Pittsburgh lost to Chicago. So yes, official stance, we want the Patriots to win. Quote

Very true and maybe the Lions will step up and win 3 in a row. But they haven't won 3 in a row since a 3rd win in a row on October 5th. Since then, it's been a loss-win sequence. Quote
number20 Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM Posted Sunday at 06:56 PM Bears might be this year’s Commanders. They’re punching way above their weight class. Some teams have seasons where all the luck seems to fall their way. Green Bay pretty much outplayed them in their own stadium with a backup QB - only to gift it to them at the end. Watching how the Bears play football… not sure it's sustainable 1 Quote
