Once they started hitting the place went nuts. From the fifth inning on every Tiger half inning the crowd stood and cheered them on. Hearing the crowd chant “Javy! Javy!” Before his HR was incredible. He and Riley’s HR’s will be legendary. This seriously might have been the best game in Comerica Park since 2013. Their performance redeemed a lot from September. The fans deserved this. I don’t fault the fans for booing when they did. But they turned it around quick. 6 4 Quote

holygoat Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Of course the offense goes off in the game that I can't watch, lol! Quote
lordstanley Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I thought the shade of orange everyone was wearing or waving looked awesome on tv today. Quote
Screwball Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I'm old and my blood pressure can't take this, but what a game. Never expected that outcome. Let's hope... We got the best in the business on the hill Friday. Play smart, don't beat yourself. I would think just about all the arms we have are on the table. Hope we don't need many. Imagine being Skubal, another big game on the big stage. $$$$$$ No matter, what a year, and what fun. Quote

As long as he doesn't get hurt by this time next year, Skubal is going to get good and paid for 2027 and beyond. But if he can put a shutdown performance and an LDS-clinching win tomorrow on his resume, that by itself might add a hundred million to the bottom line. 1 Quote
oblong Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Also… Lou threw out the first pitch. Always nice to see him here. I only took a picture of his name on the scoreboard. That was it for me during the game. however in the plaza outside LCA they have banners up for retired numbers…. Along with a “placeholder”. 1 Quote

I think so too, but I'm not sure that's what he will be thinking about. Don't know about others, but back when I was throwing a plastic ball on the roof of my garage and when it rolled down I hit it with a bat. It was the bottom of the 9th, tie game, two outs in the 7th game of the world series, and I was at bat. He is living every kids dream tomorrow (again). So cool. I played, so I felt just a little of that, but nothing like this big stage. It has to be an incredible feeling. I hope he's up for it. As an ex pitcher, I love to watch him work. I really truly appreciate what he has and does. Along with the attitude. Old school. :-) Go Tigers! Quote

Tiger337 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Blue Jays up 5-1 in the 8th. I am hoping for a Tigers night game on Friday. It's always nice to see the Yankees lose too. 3 Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted October 9 Posted October 9 You have to understand this. I forgot to play Centerfield by John Fogerty yesterday on the air (because I did not know when the game would start). I played it today - just as the game was starting - and like the 2 wins in Cleveland and the Game 1 win in Seattle -- they won. I will absolutely play it on Friday evening. 2 Quote
lordstanley Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Jay’s eliminate the Yankees. Game 5 start time for Tigers-Mariners will be 8:08pm ET. 3 1 Quote
GalagaGuy Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Yankees lose so the Tigers vs Mariners gets bumped to 8pm. 1 Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 MLB must be cringing at the thought of a Toronto/Seattle LCS. Maybe we will get some umpiring help on Friday. Quote

IdahoBert Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I’m still reeling in disbelief at 2am having briefly awakened from a sound sleep with this resounding victory still ringing in my ears. What a strange narcotic it is to be a fan. I had forgotten what that could feel like because it had been so long since they had played this well. The see saws are so cruel and raw. There’s hopeless vulnerability then supreme exaltation. It’s like being slammed against the dock by a large wave then bobbing up, spitting out the water and feeling so grateful to still be conscious and alive. Hope we’re still alive after Friday’s game. Baseball always has its ups and downs, but this season has been crazy. Extremes for most every team, even the contenders. Toronto and Milwaukee seem to have avoided the extreme lows, and they also happen to be 2 teams that don't strike out so frequently. I love the Tigers. I hope Friday is another celebration Quote

They are cringing at a Toronto/ Detroit LCS too. Two teams most people don't care about. And if Milwaukee makes it to the WS, they will cry like babies Quote
tiger2022 Posted October 9 Posted October 9 (edited) But they'll promote Vlad Jr and Bichette like crazy. If Seattle gets there, the story will be the only team to never make the WS. They'll bring back Ichiro, Griffey, ARod, and Johnson and parade them around. Plus they love Julio Rodriguez and the Raleigh, who will win the MVP. If Detroit makes it they will promote future Dodger, Tarik Skubal. And if MLB wants to go there, the redemption of Hinch, from pariah to hero. But mlb probably wants everyone to forget about the cheating Astros. Edited October 9 by tiger2022 Quote
