look, they lost their top two centers.  in reality, they should have lost this game.  they were double shifting compher and ras.  of course, because theyre compher and ras, THEY SUCK.

this is the game that loses the season.  once again, larkin gets hurt  raymond doesnt show up, and the rest of the team coasts.

between kasper sucking all season and danielson doing nothing all year long, and asp looking WAY over his head, our vaunted prospect pool isnt exactly giving a lot of hope.

and dont give me any cossa crap, every other goalie in GR has a GAA under 2 and a better save %.

The last goal was a screwup, but on the third? I just don't get how it is the same issue year after year after year. Most teams find different ways to be not good enough, maybe no scoring, or a lot of puck mishandling, or a poor power play, or too many penalties- whatever. But with the Wings, the lack of enough speed/quickness to challenge possession on defense and break sustained pressure is like it's now baked into Winged Wheel contract forms - or like it's like its an "unskill" they draft for. 

With Blashill I used to think he just coached too conservatively, that he was so averse to the possibility of a mistake that he coached a passive D, but we are now two coaches down the road and they look exactly the same under pressure. Go get the damn puck once in a while.

theyre too damn small up front!  debrincat, compher, kane, raymond.  and ras is their big guy?  useless!  

again, in fairness, show me a team that loses their top 2 centers and wins consistently?  but otoh, you lucked into the lead and blew it SPECTACULARLY!  

can someone please explain why rasmussen is on this team?  THEY ICED THE PUCK FOR THE ENTIRE THIRD PERIOD AND THEN REFUSED TO DUMP IT IN THE FINAL MINUTE!  its like a comedy of doing everything wrong.

again, raymond was wide open standing in front of the goalie with a chance to ice the game and he shot it right at him.  if you want to pretend to be a top forward then ACT LIKE ONE!!!!  larkin is hurt so STEP IT UP!

and that last play had their entire forward line almost below the goalie!!!!  what are you doing?

But Elmer who - whatever his other faults were, did always help generate takeaways with his size and reach, wasn't good enough to stay in the lineup.

elmer was just as soft, come on.  their entire forward line does almost nothing in this game.  nothing.

I didn't say he didn't have issues as a player, but helping gain possession was not one of them. If he went to the boards with someone he could get a puck. Whatever, he's water under the bridge.

The funny thing is, while I agree they are too small overall, Cat has more heart challenging for pucks and getting takeaways than the rest of them put together

And there may be hope for Kasper. I don't know where he was earlier in the season but he has played a lot better recently.

Another example was the 1st goal. Copp just sagged off his man for no apparent reason instead of following through and tying him up and challenging for poseesion. It's not even a matter of hitting people. He didn't have to body check him, he was in position to just ride him into the corner and he couldn't have taken the shot that scored.

Crap. I thought I heard Daniels say something about that but then I couldn't find anything about it after the game.

I was all set to have a nice evening.  Had a work evening from 6:30 to 7:30 so I had the game on in the background while I did that.  Pleasant "open the windows" weather.  Had a beer while making dinner, simmering sausages and pasta sauce... things were great until 90 seconds left.  My wife says I get more upset when the Wings lose than the Tigers... it's probably due to the long road nature of baseball.  I literally just told myself yesterday afternoon "Ok, they are in decent shape now...."

Looks like I won't have the dilemma of which team to get playoff tickets for at LCA this spring.

If we do complete the full on, annual, March collapse I think it is Columbus that ultimately takes it from us. Ottawa might be able to take it too as they have been on a tare the last 10 games with only 1 loss I believe. If and when the annual March collapse is complete, Yzerman is officially on the hotseat for being fired. This is getting ****ing ridiculous in year 7 of this rebuild. We should be firmly in the playoff this year, instead of firmly in a complete team free fall yet again.

I can’t remember a year when the disparity between the East and West’s playoff cut line has been so wide. In the East, the 8th and 9th place teams have 78 and 76 points respectively. In the West, the 8th and 9th place teams have 67 points each.

Looked like a pretty egregious too many men penalty on the gwg there, Tkachuk is joining the play from the bench and the guy coming off for him is nowhere near the bench.  But at the same time I wouldn't ever expect the NHL to call that especially against the Panthers.
