I think it certainly means they aren’t going to put a guy like gage workman on the 40 for such a short term need. Same goes for potential Mize replacements. I hear sammons name thrown around and that just isn’t happening. If sammons is called up I will eat my hat (nacho hats allowed). My guess for Mize's spot (if he needs it) would be Ty Madden (already on the roster) Quote
Edman85 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Holman and Curet can very easily be DFA'ed if space is needed. Also on the pitching front, Vanasco has been lights out and can come up for relief help until they need length. Would take up a 40 man spot, but again, Holman and Curet are expendable. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Drew Anderson will fill Mize's starting spot while Tyler Mattison comes up for the spot in the pen - or - Ty Madden gets called up For the positioin player Jace Jung or Ben Malgeri. Quote
Tiger337 Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I have been pretty busy lately and I have to admit I didn't know Holman and Curet are on the 40-man and that I had never heard of Curet before. Also, Curet arguably has worse eyebrows than Torres. Quote

I agreed that I thought at first we might call Max up, not that Kevin would play shortstop every day. But let's set that aside. A.J. Hinch has been fired. You've been named manager. This is your roster. How will you deploy it? I assume you start with Kevin playing shortstop every day. What next? Quote

Perez is my CF against RHP, Vierling against LH. Riley, Tork, Torres, McG play every day. Colt plays 3B everyday unless the matchup is really bad and I put Jung there. Light a candle every day that no-one else goes down before McK gets back! 1 Quote
gehringer_2 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago just totally surprised they are going without a true backup SS. 1 Quote

I'd probably play Carpenter everyday, too, and just move him up/down vs RHSPs/LHSPs. Quote
romad1 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This season needs to take a turn for the better. Atlanta has our number for sure. Quote

It would be nice if it were only a matter of trust in McGonigle as a player. It's more the team risk issue that any player may be forced to leave a game by something that happens to him that's beyond his control - HBP etc. They are basically saying they are willing to lose a game rather make a roster move - or alternatively I guess you could say they are admitting they don't have a single healthy SS left in the system they trust to go into a game and play better than a guy (Lee) who hasn't played there in 3 yrs. On second thought maybe the latter is actually the case. Edited 10 minutes ago by gehringer_2 Quote
