lordstanley Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:41 AM The reason why I want them to make the playoffs, even though hopes have faded to say the least, is that getting the drought monkey off their back may make it more likely not less that the Wings sweep out a lot of the deadwood this summer. This is a flawed team - Yzerman knows it, McLelland knows it, the rest of the NHL knows it, we know it. My concern is that if they miss this year to run the drought to 10 years, they won't have the resolve to risk taking a step back next year. Which would mean status quo + a few additions around the edges this summer. Quote

If they go 4-1 and Ottawa goes 2-2-1 the Wings are in unless a couple of Metro teams get hot. But no reason to think the Wings will go 4-1. More likely to go 2-3 or 1-4. If the Wings lose in regulation tomorrow and Thursday and Ottawa wins tomorrow and Thursday, the Wings will be officially eliminated. Edited yesterday at 01:00 AM by lordstanley 1 Quote

I really should have known it was misinformation. Too many lies to keep track of. Quote

Marching back the same team or close to the same team with nothing but marginal moves, IMO, is beyond idiotic. Playoffs or not. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago So I'm going to the taxpayer subsidized LCA arena tonight for the game against the Jackets. I agreed to go to this game with two friends of mine back in February when we were still riding high and hadn't fallen apart yet. I anticipate we will lose, so it's not like I'll be incredibly disappointed. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Already down 1-0 off a week goal from a guy getting his 6th goal of the year. Columbus has been gifting us losses lately too. Forget it, we're cooked. Quote

lordstanley Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Good grief. Tying goal with 16 seconds to go. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago It don't even matter, the Sens ain't giving up that playoff spot. Quote
lordstanley Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago 17 seconds away from winning in regulation. One save away from winning in the 3rd round of the shootout. But lose in Round 5. That should just about do it. Quote
Motor City Sonics Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Wow.........This team is trying to kill their fans. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago The tying goal bounced in off of Gibson's shoulder. He saw the puck coming, put up his glove and totally whiffed on it. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I kind of hope our teams stop putting former star players in charge. It screws up their legacy. Dumars ended so badly. Tramell as Tiger manager ended badly. Yzerman's going badly. It's hard for these teams to be objective when it's someone who was a fan favorite as a player. It's a case while we have missed the playoffs for a decade (and they're missing this year, lets be serious), other teams have gone from being really good to bad to good again and we just sit there in that #9/#10 spot - forever. It's very frustrating. I feel like we're gonna watch the Rangers, Panthers and Leafs pass us by next year. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago It's about that time for my annual tradition of figuring out who I'll be rooting for in the playoffs since the Wings ain't gonna be there. It's a toss up between Buffalo and Utah so maybe I'll just go with both until one of them is eliminated. Quote

I think with Buffalo making the playoffs, and Edmonton having made it to Game 7 of the SCF the past 2 years, the Wings will be the NHL's new punchline, at least for the next year. Quote
