I was there sitting in third base box seats for that game at that moment. Fifth game of the World Series down three games to one. The Cardinals were leading 3 to 1 in the 5th I believe. I had sprained my ankle the day before, but I hobbled into that stadium and hobbled out with joy after we won 5–3.

Bert playing hurt when it mattered most.

Weirdly, we have the third best run differential in the American League

Why?  Skubal, Valdez, and Mize 3 ER in 31 IP.

Although when Verlander pitches again, it will certainly drop unless the offense puts up 10 runs.

I think we’re due to see “Good Jack” for this game.

I hope so.  The problem with Flaherty is he can go from good to bad from inning to inning.  He just seems to have that one inning that completely unravels and that's that.  I may be wrong, but it seems like that was the difference between 2024 and 2025.  In 2024, he might allow two runners on, but he'd limit the scoring to one run.  In 2025, two runners on would lead to an elongated inning where both or more would score.

Because we’ve been shutout twice in 7 games

Thank goodness for the pitch clock and quicker games. The weather channel says 100% chance of thunderstorms at around 4 PM. No extra innings please...just...hurry up!!

Driveway is just about dried up  😅

Agreed. For some reason, AL teams seem to beat up in NL teams. I expect 7 strong innings from Flaherty today.

Currently at the Louisville Slugger museum.  Not sure how i feel about it.

Most humans who play don’t use wood bats and 50% at least of the bat and ball that is played uses a softball bat which is not made here.

I did enjoy seeing some of the historic bats.

That used be the case, but the NL has caught up in recent years.

2023 NL 362 AL 328

2024 NL 369 AL 321

2025 AL 367 NL 353

2026 NL 27 AL 21

The bike trail was flooded around the swamp, easily as flooded as I’ve ever seen it.  Had to backtrack a bit and then use the road for about 1/2 mile going out and then 1/2 mile coming back in.  The river is too deep and fast for the walleye run right now, so road traffic was light.  I bike along the outside of the lane of oncoming traffic so I can see when to peel off the road.

i guess JV will be taking a little break.

A bad hip, huh? Didn't we see that last year with an old $10 million dollar pitcher? The guy who never threw a pitch for Detroit? I guess we're turning into a destination for old worn out broken down pitchers looking for one last big pay day?
