2026 Live Draft Thread As It Happens

It's very strange... there are other TCU players listed in the draft and they do have TCU as their school. If you look at prospects and filter those with no college there are three players listed: Bud Clark, of course, and Joshua Weru, a rugby player from Kenya, and Uar Bernard, a player who was in some NFL camps in Afrcia (originally from Nigeria).

If these picks were working out I think we'd all be fine with moving up to get your guy. All evidence points to him falling for a specific player at a specific position and then getting scared and moving up to get them.

I feel similar about the Miller and Moore. I like them, I get the picks, they filled big needs which is the important thing but I feel like some upside was left on the table. It seems like Brad has changed his approach a bit of swinging for upside by playing it safe which is actually fine since the Lions should be in win now mode and could use some high floor prospects that are Day 1 starters. Lets say I'm whelmed, content might be the right word but not excited.

How do you know that they would have been there at their original pick? Because of scouting grades? 

It always drives me nuts when fans say this as if a smart GM like Holmes doesn't have an inkling or some intel that his guy might get taken earlier.

i dont know.  im just venting.

that being said, he's done this multiple times in the past that had people scratching their heads and its those times that he's missed the most frequently.

otoh, those trades were for obscure players who werent on anyone's radars.  Moore was a knwon quantity and is generally considered - like miller as you point out - high floor, low ceiling players.  the exact opposite of broderick martin and giovanni manu.

Nobody in this draft needs a DE and certainly not one from a blue chip program like Michigan and it is purely coincidental that the team Detroit traded in front of also took a DE and certainly there is no way that the head coach of that team Detroit traded in front of who was that players defensive coordinator for a national championship year had any interest in drafting him and he was a first time head coach anyway so there's no way he had any say in who was getting drafted and he would have been on the board anywhere Detroit wanted to pick him...

It is insane the extent to which people invent conspiracy theories to try to disprove conclusions that are obvious.

Yuck. I thought the Lions were going to trade up for Zion Young or Gabe Jacas. All of these talented edge rushers seemed like the Lions were going to fall to the Lions at No. 50. And Zierlein says Young "has the power to bull rush or drive through edges, but lacks instincts and variety in his rush approach. His NFL pressure production will lag behind without better go-to moves and counters. Young’s physical tools and rugged demeanor give him a chance to be an instant run-stopping upgrade with average rush." But Moore "is a bull-rush aficionado, piling up pressures and sacks. He’s strong through the top of the rush but needs to prove he can consistently stress long, well-anchored tackles. When it’s time to finish, he tackles with reliable technique and timing. If Moore cranks up the fire on all three downs, he can become a good full-time player. Either way, he projects as a starter capable of racking up pressures." Doesn't seem like a stretch that Brad and Dan would like Moore as a player.

i dont trust any draft experts.  the one i trust the LEAST is probably walterfootball.

It strikes me that Walter's mind probably works a lot like his website. Lots of annoying popups that keep getting in the way of conveying a useful thought.

Michigan didnt play moore a lot because of their stupid rotations last year.  he might develop into a better pass rusher.

but the lions seem to want that pocket crusher, edge setter, run stuffer DE.  which is why i thought they would want zion young, but moore could probably be that guy too.

hate to give up the 4th, but if its a guy they really wanted...ah well.

does brad trade next year's 3rd for a 4th this year?

given that the lions traded up in round 2, getting rid of a 4th rounder to do so, and then chose not to trade up into round 3, i wonder if that means they dont think too highly of this draft class?  or that there's little difference left between levels of prospects? 

we'll see if they trade future capital today to get someone.
