RedRamage Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago It's very strange... there are other TCU players listed in the draft and they do have TCU as their school. If you look at prospects and filter those with no college there are three players listed: Bud Clark, of course, and Joshua Weru, a rugby player from Kenya, and Uar Bernard, a player who was in some NFL camps in Afrcia (originally from Nigeria). buddha Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Stop throwing away draft picks to trade up for guys who will be there when you pick! signed, broderick martin, giovanni manu, and issac teslaa. Quote

If these picks were working out I think we'd all be fine with moving up to get your guy. All evidence points to him falling for a specific player at a specific position and then getting scared and moving up to get them. Quote

NYLion Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I feel similar about the Miller and Moore. I like them, I get the picks, they filled big needs which is the important thing but I feel like some upside was left on the table. It seems like Brad has changed his approach a bit of swinging for upside by playing it safe which is actually fine since the Lions should be in win now mode and could use some high floor prospects that are Day 1 starters. Lets say I'm whelmed, content might be the right word but not excited. Quote

How do you know that they would have been there at their original pick? Because of scouting grades? It always drives me nuts when fans say this as if a smart GM like Holmes doesn't have an inkling or some intel that his guy might get taken earlier. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago So what are the Lions remaining picks? Go for secondary and linebackers help? Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 19 hours ago, MichiganCardinal said: Lots of first round talent still available at Best Need Available (BNA): - Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee - Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee - Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, DB, Toledo - Zion Young, EDGE, Missouri - CJ Allen, LB, Georgia would all be home run picks. If they aren't satisfied with Mahogany, they could even go back-to-back OL with one of: - Jake Slaughter, C, Florida - Chase Bisontis, OT/OG, Texas A&M - Gennings Dunker, OT/OG, Iowa - Emmanuel Pregnon, OG, Oregon - Connor Lew, C, Auburn And then there are plenty of solid 2nd round picks there too, enough to justify moving back if those top five are already gone. - Brandon Cisse, CB, South Carolina - Avieon Terrell, CB, Clemson - Treydan Stukes, DB, Arizona - Jalon Kilgore, DB, South Carolina - Gabe Jacas, EDGE, Illinois - TJ Parker, EDGE, Clemson - Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State - Keyron Crawford, EDGE, Auburn - Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech - Anthony Hill Jr., LB, Texas - Kyle Louis, LB, Pitt I'd be surprised if Holmes only picks once tonight. Whether that's moving down from #50 and picking up a mid-3rd or sending both #118 and #128 to move back into the 90s, I think he finds a way to pick up a later pick tonight. Some guys that make sense but probably not with our second pick and probably later than #50 might include: - Keith Abney, CB, Arizona State - Malik Muhammad, CB, Texas - Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama - Will Lee III, CB, Texas A&M - Kamari Ramsey, DB, USC - LT Overton, DT/DE, Alabama - Joshua Josephs, EDGE, Tennessee - Anthony Lucas, EDGE, USC - Jalen Farmer, OG, Kentucky - Billy Schrauth, OG, Notre Dame - Anez Cooper, OG, Miami - Drew Shelton, OL, Penn State - Isaiah World, OT, Oregon - Deonte Lawson, LB, Alabama - Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State - Mike Washington, RB, Arkansas - Sam Roush, TE, Stanford - Oscar Delp, TE, Georgia Still available: - Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee - Connor Lew, C, Auburn - Jalon Kilgore, DB, South Carolina - Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State - Kyle Louis, LB, Pitt - Keith Abney, CB, Arizona State - Malik Muhammad, CB, Texas - Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama - Will Lee III, CB, Texas A&M - Kamari Ramsey, DB, USC - LT Overton, DT/DE, Alabama - Joshua Josephs, EDGE, Tennessee - Anthony Lucas, EDGE, USC - Jalen Farmer, OG, Kentucky - Billy Schrauth, OG, Notre Dame - Anez Cooper, OG, Miami - Drew Shelton, OL, Penn State - Isaiah World, OT, Oregon - Deonte Lawson, LB, Alabama - Nick Singleton, RB, Penn State - Mike Washington, RB, Arkansas Quote

Moore was a knwon quantity and is generally considered - like miller as you point out - high floor, low ceiling players. the exact opposite of broderick martin and giovanni manu. Quote

It is insane the extent to which people invent conspiracy theories to try to disprove conclusions that are obvious. Quote
buddha Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) From MC's favorite site, lol. Detroit Lions Detroit Lions: Derrick Moore, DE, Michigan – MILLEN DON’T FORGET YOUR KIELBASA FOR KIELBASA DAY Grade Yuck. I thought the Lions were going to trade up for Zion Young or Gabe Jacas. All of these talented edge rushers seemed like the Lions were going to fall to the Lions at No. 50. Yet, they moved up six spots for … Derrick Moore? The Michigan edge rusher was productive in school, but he’s undersized, so I definitely ranked him behind the other edge rushers. Horrible! Edited 2 hours ago by buddha Quote
Jason_R Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago And CBS Sports gives Detroit an A- for Moore but Baltimore gets a C+ for Zion Young who "is more of a run-stopper than a pass rusher." And Zierlein says Young "has the power to bull rush or drive through edges, but lacks instincts and variety in his rush approach. His NFL pressure production will lag behind without better go-to moves and counters. Young’s physical tools and rugged demeanor give him a chance to be an instant run-stopping upgrade with average rush." But Moore "is a bull-rush aficionado, piling up pressures and sacks. He’s strong through the top of the rush but needs to prove he can consistently stress long, well-anchored tackles. When it’s time to finish, he tackles with reliable technique and timing. If Moore cranks up the fire on all three downs, he can become a good full-time player. Either way, he projects as a starter capable of racking up pressures." Doesn't seem like a stretch that Brad and Dan would like Moore as a player. Quote

buddha Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Michigan didnt play moore a lot because of their stupid rotations last year. he might develop into a better pass rusher. but the lions seem to want that pocket crusher, edge setter, run stuffer DE. which is why i thought they would want zion young, but moore could probably be that guy too. hate to give up the 4th, but if its a guy they really wanted...ah well. does brad trade next year's 3rd for a 4th this year? Motown Bombers Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The Lions have a 4th so I doubt they trade for a second 4th. Quote

buddha Posted 35 minutes ago Posted 35 minutes ago given that the lions traded up in round 2, getting rid of a 4th rounder to do so, and then chose not to trade up into round 3, i wonder if that means they dont think too highly of this draft class? or that there's little difference left between levels of prospects? we'll see if they trade future capital today to get someone.
