As soon as I saw "precautionary", I suspected there was trouble.  There are no minor pitching injuries.  They are back to pitching chaos again.  It worked the first time and it was fun.  Not so much fun now.

It's been a necessity both times.

In Toledo, Jake Miller, Troy Watson, and now SGL are out. In Erie, same with Sears, Hamm, Alba.

Well, they could probably get a good #3 starter for McGonigle .

Or they could trade McGonigle for several relief pitchers who could do pitching chaos full time!

Skubal said it's his understanding the issue in his elbow is "common, more common than people think." The loose bodies "float in the elbow and a lot of throwers probably have them, but they’re asymptomatic. They don’t get into spots that piss off your arm."

"I seem to have one that is giving me some inflammation and problems," he said. "To my understanding, you just go take it out. I think the length of the rehab is probably just getting your spring training buildup again, getting your volume up, but the procedure itself I think is pretty simple, as far as what I’ve been explained. I’m not sure you should quote me on that because I’m not a doctor, but I’m not too worried about it."

"So we’re focused on the here and now, we’re focused on winning this year, and we feel like we have a great chance to win every time he’s on the bump," Harris added.

Sorry, I'd rather see Jace Jung than go back to the mediocre past of Zack Short.       This is like Dan Cleary with the Red Wings.  Can't get rid of him.

My understanding is that according to advanced fielding metrics, we have about the worst defensive indicators in baseball. I’m presuming that Short is in the lineup because on a day when we’re doing a bullpen thing again - again… sigh - his defense is the deciding factor.

Right, there was/is no choice.  That doesn't mean it's going to work as well this time.  The fact that all those guys are hurt is why it's less likely won't work this time.
