Deleterious Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 I saw someone on Twitter mention Lavine instead of Sabonis. I don't really want either one. But Lavine might tempt me more since I could be done with him after a year instead of the 2 with Sabonis. Quote

Deleterious Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 Looking around at various people doing cap projections for the Pistons. It seems if Duren signs for $34-$35 million this season, Detroit will be about $9-$10 million under the luxury tax. That means if they do have the full MLE ($15 million) left, they probably wont spend all of it. Pretty important to stay under the luxury tax. They will eventually go over it, but you want to delay it as long as possible to avoid the repeater penalties. Quote
Mr.TaterSalad Posted July 2 Posted July 2 Was Trajan asleep at the wheel or just unwilling to pay the price for Jaylen Brown? Like, we couldn't have matched what the Sixers did? Quote
Deleterious Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 Blackest of black holes on offense, doesn't play defense. But at $6 million per I would easily take him over both Joe and Huerter. Quote

It would have been difficult to match that. Quote

I'd take him over Huerter, but not Joe. Sadly, the player actually has to want to take that salary to come to Detroit. Doesn't seem like anyone - even Tobias - is rushing to do that. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 There is a video going around where Siegel said $25 million. He has since said he misspoke and meant $35 million. Siegel has also been known to be full of ****. So who knows. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 At first, I laughed wondering who would put the Nets roster on there. But that guy is a Nets blogger, and he was saying how bad they are compared to others. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 A year or two in the G-League will be good for him. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 That is a full 15-man roster if you count Duren. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 Their current cap situation. 14 guys signed with Duren still a cap hold. Technically, I don't think they have renounced Beasley yet. But I'm predicting they will. So with Duren only counting as $19.4 million, they are currently about $14 million over the cap. Then they are under the luxury tax and both aprons. After Duren signs they will be pretty close to the luxury tax and approaching the 1st apron. Important for future trades if there are any. Just means they can't really bring back more than they send out by very much or they hit the luxury tax. They are hard capped at the 1st apron because they are doing a sign and trade. So no matter what they can't go over the first apron. This roster flirting with the luxury tax is amazing. If Buddha is right, and they are not a top 4 seed, it's a borderline fireable offense. Quote
Deleterious Posted July 3 Author Posted July 3 (edited) I suppose the full roster means Isaac Bonga is not coming over from Europe. He had the potential to be a legit 3 and D guy. He has won DPOY in his league twice and won the best defensive player in the Eurocup tournament last summer. His shooting wasn't good the last time he was in the NBA, but has been great since returning to Europe. But they also use a shorter 3PT line, so who knows. Edited July 3 by Deleterious Quote
Shinzaki Posted July 3 Posted July 3 (edited) We should sign Sophie Cunningham to point at guys like Harden when they flop https://share.google/o1u1ibp67T8vCKeyi Edited July 3 by Shinzaki 1 Quote
1984Echoes Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Duncan, LeVert, and Holland are at the top of the list of players to move off the roster in the search for improvements. Should one of them be moved in order to create space for Bonga? Is his potential worth that much? Also, are the details for moving Sasser off the roster confirmed? What did we get back, anything, nothing, a 2nd rounder... nothing but cash? Asking for a friend. Quote

The Sasser deal can not be completed until July 6th. Actually, all of these deals will be done on July 6th. Right now, its supposedly just cash for Sasser. But people are speculating the possibility of combining the Stew trade, Sasser trade, and Collins trade. Sasser + Stew money out is enough to bring in Collins and Joe and keeping the MLE. Kinda pointless either way. They will be so close to the luxury tax they won't spend the MLE anyway. But it is smart to do that deal and preserve it anyway. You never know when you might need it. 1984Echoes Posted July 3 Posted July 3 I don't know... To me, LeVert and Green seem redundant. Both as 3&D vet swingmen to help guide the kids... Relatively the same minutes and points... LeVert with better playmaking skills and Green with better shooting, D, and toughness. I think Green beats LeVert handily looking at O & D rating and on/off. So I'm still of the mind that I am very fine signing back Green, but that LeVert is much more expensive, and expendable, for an upgrade. Just my 2 cents. Quote

I agree his salary would likely be needed in any trade scenario. Quote
