That whole summer was no picnic.

One day that June I went to Oakland Mall on the day tickets went on sale for Frank Zappa at Meadowbrook Music festival that August. We had to wait outside until Hudson’s opened at 10, and  it was already, like, 90. Blessed relief to get inside. I decided to stick around and go to the Abbey Theater across 14 Mile and watch the new Roger Rabbit movie, where more air conditioning ensued. I think it got up to 104 or something that day, too.
