gehringer_2 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 only goes to show, given enough help from the ump, both Vest and Jansen can get out of an inning...🙄 Quote

Sports_Freak Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Lee is starting to win me over. The kid can really play, his defense looks good and his hitting isn't terrible. It looks like 2nd base may be his position? Quote

Vest was NOT pitching well, but he got out of it anyway. I would not take anything from what I saw tonight to imply he's going to be good next time out. Jansen did get his ground balls, but Peters never got a fair shot with Drake putting him in a hole on two balls. 1 Quote

They did a fine job holding a lead tonight and hopefully, we'll be up by more than a single run in the late innings tomorrow and Sunday, so they won't need to be as good (or lucky??) IdahoBert Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Tork is just so disappointing. He has glimmers and then just disappears. I like rooting for the guy. He’s better than nothing but not by much. If he were a DH in a band box ballpark he’d probably hit 7-8 more home runs, but he’d still have a below average OPS, most likely a BA hovering at or below the Mendoza line and a negative WAR. It’s exciting when he does something good but it’s just too infrequent. Quote

You might think that is good, but generally with hitting to be at the extremes is bad. he ends up with a lot pitches per AB because he gets behind taking strikes then has to fight his way back behind in the count. The fact he is able to do the latter is sort of the key to why he should be better. Just hit the first pitch in the zone you can. It's likely to be better than anything you get with 2 strikes on you. 1 Quote

Prospects are nice to have but not many really wotlrk out at the MLB level. At least, ones who make a real impact. Many times, they get talked up to get fans excited or to increase their trade value. Thanks for the valuable insight. 😉 Obviously your odds increase of sufficient numbers working out if you start from a larger group of true prospects. We have that on the IF, we really don't have that in the MiLB OF. 1 Quote
