The most Mickey Mouse Homerun stadium in the league and we sit Greene, Carpenter and Keith because it’s Ryan “Cy” Weathers on the mound.  Good plan.  I’m sure Casey will appreciate the lack of run support.

This lefty/righty stuff is getting old.   Put the best 9 hitters in the lineup and leave them there.   It's no wonder the Tigers have trouble scoring runs.  There is no consistency in the day to day lineup.

Riley laid out for catches in both of the last two games - he probably hurt something.

Please name the nine players we have today you would start every day and the four players you would play only off the bench.

Maybe he shouldn’t be so slow then and he can just catch them without diving

Or position himself better. Or get a better jump. Or take a better route to the ball. Am I missing anything? 😉

Hit more homeruns and drive in a bunch more runs to offset any DRS deficiencies?  😅

At this point—I’d like to see something like:

1.) McGonigle (SS)

2.) Carpenter (RF)

3.) Dingler (C)

4.) Greene (LF)

5.) Torkelson (1B)

6.) Keith (DH)

7.) Lee (2B)

8.) McKinstry (3B)

9.) Malgeri (CF)

Then when Gleyber is back, bounce McKinstry to the bench and play Lee at 3B.  Outman should only really be a defensive replacement.  Rogers obviously spells Dingler and you swap him in the lineup with Malgeri when he plays.  Vierling and Jones only need to play when someone needs a day off.

I’m going to follow Thumper’s Rule because I honestly can’t think of anything positive to say:

Vierling apparently had his 'outlier' season in '24. He's done pretty much nothing since then, though it was a pretty short season for him last year.

If he were actually a stolen base threat or a plus defender, it’d be fine.  But he doesn’t excel at those either.  I like the guy, but he’s 100% replaceable.  So is Wenceel.

McKinstry every day for the next several weeks Gleyber is out? Malgeri on the strength on nine major league plate appearances? Wow, that might be a tough sell, at least the former.

Anyway: @roarintiger1? Is this who you mean?

They already play McKinstry 80% of the time anyway, so it’s not changing much.  The only other option is to have Keith play 3B…….  As far as Malgeri, why add him to the 40 man and call him up if we aren’t going to play him regularly?  Do we really need to see more of Vierling/Outman/Jones?  Give the kid a chance—he earned it with his Toledo numbers.

Hinch, for some odd reason, always has him in the top third of the batting order. Need to get his .203 batting average extra at bats? Put Lee in the top third, the kid has been pretty good

Yes.   That we should already have one of the Dodgers prospects in LF

I wondered the same thing. He has hit lefties well but has been very bad against right handers.

Maybe Sweeney can transition from SS to LF.
