Tenacious D Posted July 20 Posted July 20 At the risk of any sort of hyperbole, Tigers really to take two out of three in this series. To come out of the All Star break and go 3-3 (or worse) in the first six games makes it very difficult to chip away, especially with other teams surging (Red Sox). Quote

IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Flaherty today… I hope “Good Jack” makes his presence felt for 5 2/3 innings… Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I’m also glad this game is beginning at a decent time, for me at least. Although starting July 31, the Tigers will have nine games in a row in the Pacific time zone. 😕 1 Quote

It's basically all I've been watching on reels since early June when they started. My wife is not amused. How many Anika Nilles Tom Sawyer drum fills can a woman take? Quote

I love em and thought they were my band when I was in my 20s and 30s. Come to find out they were a lot of people's band. Meanwhile my buddies who played in actual bands hated them. Quote

A mysterious question since there’s never been a time where more than 10 woman were present at a Rush show. 1 Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Curious if they’ll DH Gleyber a lot and go with a Tork-Lee-McGonigle-Keith infield. Need to keep Lee in the lineup…he’s a good spark plug guy at the bottom of the order Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 McGonigle SS Torres 2B Keith 3B Greene, R LF Dingler C Carpenter DH Torkelson 1B McKinstry RF Outman CF Quote

IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I’m not expecting the Tigers pregame to be of any great duration although the first game of the series at Wrigley they may start a half hour before actual game time. According to “the Internet“ the Cubs pregame will begin a full hour before the actual game so it might be interesting to see what the Cubs announcers have to say about the opponent they’re facing. IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Carpenter has gone hitless in nine straight games. I think I would definitely prefer to have Torres DH and have Lee in the lineup at 2nd. But Gleyber may be itching to be a full ball player again and AJ is willing to let him do it. but it might just be a no-brainer to plug Torres back into the lineup. Also, if AJ stuck with Jones so long, he’ll certainly stick with Carpenter who has a far better long-term track record. 1 Quote
Tiger337 Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I think Torres will DH a lot, but he's still the primary 2B. Quote

That oblique gets a lot of stress on it when a player swings hard. This may be a chronic problem for him.. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I was watching the Twins Guardians first inning, and the Twins botched an inning ending double play which led to back to back home runs and they’re already in a 3–0 deficit. The Twins is gonna Twin. Quote

I can't watch the Cubs broadcast, it's considered blacked out. Its the Detroit feed or nothing. Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I just switched back from watching the Dodgers Phillies game on ESPN to discover that this Tigers Cubs game is beginning in a weather delay. It’s a real shame that Chicago can’t handle their weather any better than some countries can handle forest fires. Quote
NorthWoods Posted July 20 Posted July 20 We were talking about radios and pillows the other night on here, made me think of this clip. Just listening to it makes me cry....Ernie's been gone over 16 years but he's still the best ever and the voice of my childhood, my youth and much of my adult life. God bless the man. Quote

Ernie was the constant companion of my childhood from 1961 through 1968. After the Tigers won the World Series in ‘68 baseball had pretty much done as much for me as it was able to do. And after I moved out of the Detroit viewing and listening area - like 2000 miles away - it took a long time for me to come back home. Thanks to the Internet… 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Since there’s nothing happening with the Tigers/Cubs, I was watching the Dodgers and Phillies and the Dodgers were just punished for the intrusive, apocryphal interview of Tommy Edman during the bottom of the second inning because nothing ever happens in a baseball game besides grass growing, but the Phillies had other ideas and scored four runs. I muted the whole thing because it annoys me so much. 1 Quote
