It would be great to sell, load up for the future, play 5 rookies, deploy pitching chaos and beat the odds again by making the post season. Do we actually need pitching chaos? We have Framber, Melton, Montero, Jobe might be back this week, and I would guess Madden will get some length in as a starter. I don’t think we’re as thin as we were two years ago. Quote

chasfh Posted August 5 Posted August 5 I did not think I would be rooting against Tarik Skubal so soon, but here we are. Quote

Will Flaherty be back soon? If he pitches like he did in July and Valdez pulls his head out of his ass, their rotation should be OK. 1 Quote

I would guess he can go 2-3-4 innings to start out with, and can be stretched out to more than that...? Same with Drew Anderson. Although I'd prefer to see Madden stretched out to see what he can do as a starter... Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Nobody told the Dodgers that you have to give Skubal run support before the 5th inning… Quote

Sports_Freak Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Very confident in Melton. At least, after he gets past the 1st inning and settles in. Quote

All of those talking head idiots who say LA won the trade? See what they say if Skubal goes 0-6 with a 4.50 ERA. Lol Quote
monkeytargets39 Posted August 5 Posted August 5 If there are no Jimothy sightings in the park, I will be disappointed Quote

The further away from the Skubal news I get, the better I think our deals were. We might have a starting corner OF, better than Carpenter already, a pitcher who could be in the rotation next year or has the makings to be a dominant closer and the kid they got from San Diego is pretty highly-regarded (I say, get your TJ surgery now and get it over with already). Plus the more I hear from the Skubal camp, the happier I am that we didn't resign him and keep him to receive nothing. The team that does sign him (Dodgers or Mets) are going to regret it in about 3 years. He had his best years here. I hope the Cubs destroy him tonight. Uhhhh..who's Troy Watson? Edit; never mind...I found him. Edited August 5 by Sports_Freak Quote

chasfh Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Skubal twirled a pretty good game, 4-2-2-2-6 after six innings, and left after six innings down 2-1. I'm sure he feels right at home. 1 Quote
chasfh Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Cubs putting up two in the seventh to take a 4-1 lead, and they're still hitting. Skubal might could take an L here. Quote
