Did anyone catch Harris in the booth taking questions? All softball questions by employees he hired and pays. A real journalist would ask him if he heard about Skubal hoping the Tigers sign him to come back. And yes, I'm sure he heard.

Is DeLauter going to be a thorn in the Tigers’ side the next ten years?

No, he’ll get too expensive for Cleveland.

Their time was pretty limited.  And yes that was a team decision.

And let's be real, no broadcast team is going to grill or be confrontational with someone from the front office of the team they cover.   Easy to be a tough guy here but if Harris was signing your paycheck you'd be sweet as pie too.

Today is Gates Brown day. On 8/11/68 the Gater won both games of a double header with the Red Sox with a pinch hit home run in the 14th inning of game one,and a ninth inning single in game two. The Tigers rallied with 4 runs in the ninth inning which is what they did best in 1968.

The other great Gator story....

"Although seldom used as a regular, Brown was a great fan favorite during his thirteen-year career, all spent as a member of the Detroit Tigers. He once stated to this writer that during the 1968 World Series, he was secretly eating two hot dogs on the bench when manager Mayo Smith suddenly and unexpectedly called him to pinch hit with one stuffed in his jersey. After getting a base hit, the catsup from the hot dog bled through his jersey as he stood on base. (Note that the story could not have happened during the World Series, as he went 0 for 1, but occurred on August 7, 1968, as documented in other sources). "
