chasfh Posted August 11 Posted August 11 We have just suffered our final Monday off day for the rest of the season. All the remaining off days will be Thursdays. 1 Quote

oblong Posted August 11 Posted August 11 We are going tonight, I turned in 2 tickets from 2 weeks ago so all 4 of us could go tonight. It is refreshing to have a "stressful" game in mid AUgust. Quote

Anderson was miscast in the bullpen and now he’s getting the fair shot to establish himself in a major league rotation in the way he probably signed up for in the first place. Quote
Scottgaf Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Not to state the obvious but every divisional game is huge. Even after moving their top 2 starters, this team probably has the most talent in the division. Keep it up guys. Would be awesome to see them make the playoffs. That would be great experience for such a young roster. Quote

IdahoBert Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Bibee. Bibee… 4-11 W/L but a decent ERA. May have had some bad luck. I hope he’s not due for a rebound. This home series is virtually a playoff series. Quote
IdahoBert Posted August 11 Posted August 11 It’s also nice that these games are not starting late. That got really tedious with the last road trip. Quote

monkeytargets39 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Anderson is starting and we are facing Bibee who always beats us. 9-1 Tigers. Quote
oblong Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I hate Cleveland. All of their teams. Especially since we've played them twice in the playoffs recently. Quote

But I’m an early to bed early to rise sort of guy. I like to walk early in the morning before it hits 100°. Lately it’s been 100° or more with 9% humidity. Right now it’s got all the way up to 32% humidity and that feels “damp“ by the standards of my tender, weathered skin. Quote
chasfh Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Get a load of this ... this is the past two weeks, or just since July 24: All those runs scored and so few given up, and still basically just one game over .500 for that stretch. If that July 24 game had flipped from a 2-1 win to a 3-2 loss, we would still have 100 runs scored, only 45 runs given up, an .812 pythag W-L record—and a .500 record since then. Just bonkers. How is this not the most interesting team in baseball right now? Quote

You are definitely old enough to remember 11pm west coast games starts, since so many teams had 8pm local start times for night games way into the 70s. Quote
chasfh Posted August 11 Posted August 11 This ran in my Athletic newsletter. Check out the final paragraph, especially: 🤝 Middle Relief Tigers are the biggest risers Today’s Power Rankings tried to answer one question: How can all 30 teams feel good about the rest of this season? Here are the excerpts from our Nos. 11 and 12 teams, the Tigers and Padres, respectively. Detroit Tigers Record: 58-60 Last Power Ranking: 20 How they can feel good about the rest of the season: I mean … go to the playoffs, I guess?! At the time of writing, there were 12 AL teams either in a playoff spot or within 3 1/2 games of one. The Tigers were right there in the middle, a game behind the Rangers for the final wild-card spot. Detroit did play a lot of these games with Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize on the team, for sure. But they also played a lot of them without Kerry Carpenter, Wenceel Pérez, Jack Flaherty, Justin Verlander, Parker Meadows, the recently activated Jackson Jobe and new addition River Ryan, all of whom could be active before season’s end. And if you want the not-gonna-happen-but-wouldn’t-it-be-dramatic outcome: Detroit makes it into the playoffs and goes on an improbable run, and Skubal gets that World Series ring after all, despite losing Game 7. — Weaver I assume in this scenario Weaver means the Tigers go on to beat the Dodgers in a seven-game World Series and they give still Skubal a ring. Yeah, not gonna happen—not because I reject outright the idea that the Tigers could win a World Series from the Dodgers with Skubal taking the L in Game 7, but the whole giving Skubal a ring anyway thing. I'm pretty sure that would not happen. I could see the players voting him and Mize at least a partial share, though. Quote
