Media Meltdown and also Media Bias 101

context.  The stands were not filled and the crowds did not match expectations.  America knew this was a Trump birthday party and a show of force by the regime which appropriated US troops and cost $45m.  Meanwhile, much more sizable crowds turned out to protest Trump in all 50 states.

I guess context must be it, because as I read through the tweet:

  • Planes roared over D.C.: check
  • Tanks rolled along the national mall: check
  • Brass bands resounded: check
  • Thousands of soldiers marched past cheering crowds: check and check
  • Largest show of military might in the capital in more than three decades: check

Seems as though the story hit all the points truthfully, so I didn't see the problem, especially since a substantial part of the story itself was devoted to the protests, starting with paragraph #2.

If the problem is that they reported on it with taking a clear and firm position against it, or that they reported on it at all, then that's a discussion of a different stripe. Speaking only for myself, I don't hold mainstream media to that standard.

I'm certainly no fan of Jake Tapper, but MSM has been very critical of Trump and his health.  Once Biden was not in the race, Trump's age became a source of attack by the MSM's too.  They knew they couldn't attack that unless it was vaguely pointed out that both Trump and Biden were old.

He wrote a book about Biden, he should be allowed to discuss that on the merits without a 'but Trump!' response.

Trump's age was given nowhere near the amount of coverage as Biden's. The book has no merits. Tapper alleges to be a journalist. The book is just anonymously sourced gossip with no fact checking. People willing to go on the record to refute the claims were left out of the book. People specifically mentioned in the book like Jamie Harrison were not interviewed by Tapper. CNN then spent several weeks promoting this book instead of reporting news. Biden is no longer president. Trump's mental acuity it much more important right now.

My guess is you were just a little sensitive to anytime anyone (mostly Trump) complained about Biden's age.  Prior to the debate, there was no one in the MSM complaining about Biden's age and anytime Trump brought it up, MSM was the one defending Biden.

In fact the hypocritical part about Tapper has nothing to do with him not going after Trump's age, but that he, along with the network he represented, went after anyone that called out anyone that complained about Biden's age or indicated something Biden did might be because he was old.

What in the world are you talking about? The media covered Biden's age extensively before the debate, especially with the Hur report. Jon Stewart did a whole show about Biden's age pre-debate. Pre debate polling showed Biden's age was an issue. People did think that because the mainstream media defended Biden.

Biden had the political capital to either

restore economy and bring the US back to full employment ASAP, with significant risk of inflation, or

push through legislation and reform to protect democracy.

He choose the economy and it was more successful than just about anyone could have imagined. One of the most consequential one term presidencies ever. Perfectly rational to think that if he modeled normal behavior and a normal presidency that people would be reminded what a vile perversion of power Trump's presidency was.

The problem is the American people are stupid.

He did try to get through the John Lewis Voting Rights Act but that was largely held up Manchin.
