smr-nj Posted July 6 Posted July 6 omg. In a couple of months, I’ll no longer be a Jersey Girl. I’ll be a Delawarean (is that right? Looks odd) …. I can’t believe I’ll have to pump my own gas. That stinks. Who can I talk to about that? 🤪 2 Quote
Deleterious Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Othman isn't a nobody, he's a player. A little shocked, he would turn this over to AI. My first thought is he is only acting in a consulting role and won't have much to do with the place at all. A name for the marquee, so to speak. This is interesting, but not huge news. The big news will be when they can start to reliably automate kitchen duties. Dubai to unveil AI-operated restaurant in September 2025 Quote According to Ahmet Oytun Cakir, one of the founders of WOOHOO, Chef Aiman —derived from the words “AI” and “man” — draws on extensive food science research, molecular composition data and more than 1,000 recipes from global culinary traditions. Oytun Cakir was quoted by the news agency: “Human cooking will not be replaced, but we believe (Aiman) will elevate the ideas, creativity.” Unable to taste or smell, the AI breaks down cuisine into elements such as texture, acidity and umami, generating flavour and ingredient combinations. The AI-designed recipes are fine-tuned by human cooks under the guidance of acclaimed Dubai-based chef Reif Othman. Quote

Lots of reasons. Selling family home where I took care of my dad, but staying in Jersey too pricey. I have a sister/brother-in-law in DE, I’ll be 15 minutes from them… and I really like the area (college town). So many things to do. I’m being optimistic, and going to enjoy whatever is left of my life at this point. I’m going to worry about me first, for a change. 2 Quote

But you are still a jersey girl. This sounds exciting though. I hope to get to do that one day. Just move some place new. Quote

Close to family is a good thing. We made the move back to Virginia 5 years ago, partly for the same reason. Still a few hours away from family but love where we landed Quote

So, back to house hunting - still looking in Delaware, but I’ll be in Jersey a bit longer. Quote

Deleterious Posted Monday at 03:21 PM Posted Monday at 03:21 PM We sailed under it awhile back. It looks pretty cool. Gordie Howe bridge opening could be delayed until 2026, report warns Quote While the new multibillion-dollar bridge connecting Windsor and Detroit is on track to be built by the fall, a report suggests possible port-of-entry construction delays could postpone its opening until 2026. “Although construction nears completion, a risk remains that substantial completion will not occur on schedule due to delays at Canadian and U.S. POE (ports of entry),” says the report by S&P Global Ratings. oblong Posted Monday at 04:16 PM Posted Monday at 04:16 PM When you go to Target near my house, on "The Hill" in Allen Park, you can a good view of it. Every few weeks I drive by it on Sunday evenings. Personally it will make going to visit our friend much easier as she's not far from the entry point on that side. Quote
oblong Posted Monday at 04:18 PM Posted Monday at 04:18 PM Over the winter someone snuck into the old Hyatt in Dearborn and now's the video. Someone else bought it and from the outside they are doing real work to it. Its been through several owners since it closed as The Edward Hotel. A friend of mine was an electrician there his whole life and told me 1/3 of of it was sealed off at the time of closure. I hope something good can come of it but it's just too large to support as a hotel in today's environment and in that location. Quote

I thought I saw something a while back with issues concerning the entrance plaza/customs area on the US side Quote

oblong Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I was there a week ago. A block from the beach. View from our balcony. The ocean is beyond those buildings. A lot of people sleep on the beach at night. Obviously homeless. They leave during the day. I hope they are ok. Quote
Deleterious Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago This is illegal, and they can not dock employee's pay. Makes me smile that their FB page is getting hammered pretty hard right now. I honestly can't think of any scenario where your employer can dock your pay. If they do, go to the link below and file a complaint if you live in Michigan. https://www.michigan.gov/leo/bureaus-agencies/ber/wage-and-hour 1 Quote
