  1. Past hour
  2. Game 40 tomorrow. I don't think Sparky would be impressed.
  3. Well...Finnengan did have an ERA of under 1. Once Montero was taken out, it was the right call. A 2 inning save. Unless he was planning on using Jansen for the 9th. Madness....
  4. Riley makes superman catches but has a noodle arm. And yes, Vierling or Zach in RF over Perez...once we find a real CF. But our real problem is our BP. Game after game...good starting pitching and late blown leads. Montero was at 71 pitches...he had a bit of a trouble in the 6th, but leave him in. The worst that could happen is we lose. How did it turn out? We lost ...Montero probably could have thrown a 95 pitch complete game. Ugh...
  5. Bad BPs make every manager look bad - damned if you do, damned if you don't. If you are losing ballgames in your BP, blame your GM, or just bad injury luck, or both.
  6. When you have to resort to having Zack Short on your roster - your team is not good. But we have 10 SS prospects, but none of them are ready. My whole adult life the Tigers were weak on position prospects and loaded with potential MLB pitchers. Total opposite now. Loads of position guys and few pitchers close to being ready. And the most frustrating part of it is that they wasted a VERY good start tonight. It's happened way too often already this year. But............always remember, we're in the AL Central. You could win this with 80-84 wins.
  7. Colt has 0 HR’s and 6 RBI’s through almost 1/4 of the season.
  8. Who pitched the 8th and didn't record an out, Hinch or Finnegan? If you can prove the Tigers win the game if Montero is left in until he hits 100 pitches, then you can blame Hinch for pulling him.
  9. Read a bit yesterday that as a party the dems are having trouble raising money. Dem Candidates are doing fine, but the party fundraising is way off, party accounts trailing the GOP about 2:1, donors bitching about Ken Martin etc.
  10. Whatever...Tigers lost and Hinch is totally blameless. Better?
  11. I think I'd rather see McKinstry in the OF than Perez. Wenceel reminds me of Raburn a little bit in that there is no lack of athletic talent but he just botches too high a proportion of plays just out of the blue. It would also be nice if Riley could figure out a way throw from the OF. If wasn't a factor today but he has to be one of the worst OF arms in the AL. Do I recall there is some injury history there that makes that a lost cause maybe?
  12. I don't think there is any kind of decision to do so, but they are getting more immediate feedback and my guess is that is having an effect on those umpires who used to be more liberal calling strikes to the outside - where I think the 'worst' strikes called out of the zone have usually been.
  13. I am glad the Tigers focued on fudamentals in Spring training. It is really paying off.
  14. So starters should only come out after the get knocked around? Relievers should keep pitching until they get knocked around? This game is on Finnegan, full stop!
  15. That’s the problem. People didn’t like Terry McAulife or Biden because they were boring.
  16. Colt Keith will hit a homer by July 1st.
  17. Strikeouts are about the same as last year so far. They are down from 2018-2024.
  18. Why take Montero out? Why take Holton out? An old theory is you keep using pitchers, eventually one will give it up. And....they did.
  19. I guess we can debate if there is a cost in defensive precision for moving guys around a lot, I think there is at least some, or we could just bemoan the fact that the tigers have some guys who are not great defenders no matter where or how many places they play.
  20. Listened to this game during my breakfast in Taipei. 8th and 9th innings made me throw up my congee and thousand-year egg.
  21. Hinch made Finnegan crap the bed?
  22. I remember the good old days when outfielders could actually throw home.
  23. They wasted so much bandwidth for Zach Short lol...truly desperate times. The defense is an abomination.
  24. Good job, Hinch. This loss is on our manager. The smartest man in the room syndrome .
  25. I would think that all else being equal, a increase in walks would increase scoring, of course. Are strikeouts down? I’m surprised that batters would necessarily be the ones to use the challenge system to their advantage relative to pitchers. And I’m also surprised that umpires would call the zone differently to the batter’s benefit now that challenges are a threat. I guess we will see.
