  1. Today
  2. Thanks, but I’m probably missing something because this feels like a very different hypothetical. Corbin Burnes had TJ last year during a season where he wasn’t all that impressive after signing a big deal and he’s got an opt out / opt in after this season. I think it’s hard to picture Burnes returning from injury and performing well enough to become an asset comparable to what we expect Skubal to be. But I think the bigger issue is that it seems almost impossible that the tigers could be even remotely close to a buying scenario. That said, if we make all of the assumptions necessary to create a comparable situation and tigers are now true buyers at the end of July and they have the necessary room under the tax, I think I’d absolutely consider including Rainer. It’s hard to think I would be willing to move Clark, but I guess due to needing a lot of assumptions made here, if Parker meadows returned from injury and looks like the guy we thought we might have at the end of 2024, and Burnes is pitching like NL Skubal and the tigers are clear favorites to the win the division, I’d definitely think about it. I think it’s easier to just dream about a few years down the road and consider what you might do when Skenes is a FA to be and hits the trade block.
  3. I'm pleasantly surprised by the pitching. It's still early but contributions from Montero, Madden, Anderson and now Melton looks promising.
  4. Plenty of time to plan their funerals.
  5. Finals start June 3rd. If the Knicks sweep they will have 9 days off again.
  6. 22 years ago. The play that really won the championship.
  7. Maybe I will start watching cricket.
  8. Melton looked good, so glad to have him back. Anderson is also grinding out his place.
  9. i put the odds of them re-signing duren at 95%, with a 50% chance he gets $38m+ per year.
  10. He can sign his qualifying offer. It's a 1-year deal for about $9.6 million. He receives a no trade clause for the season. So he can be traded, but he has to agree to it. Next summer he becomes a free agent again, but it would be as an unrestricted free agent instead of restricted. Basically, the Pistons would not have the option to match an offer next year.
  11. so for the sake of argument, if the Piston's sit and wait and no-one else offers what happens?

  13. I think the next 3 games are at home vs. the Angels and then they go to Chicago.
  14. Somehow, given the weather we have had in the Midwest, they got the Indy completed. Little rain delay, but what a race. Was a great show all day. Great finish too. Neat video below;
  15. Never mind, I read the schedule wrong. We play the Angels at home. I shouldn’t post and drive this train high on cocaine Casey Jones. I’d better watch my speed trouble ahead trouble behind.
  16. Okay. Day off. Back home now. Mud Hens are at home. 1-hour drive. Let's make some moves. Max Anderson and Ben Malgeri need to come here and Jones and Short need to go away. Use McKinstry as the backup SS if they have to, but with a day off, a 21-year old kid should be able to start and play full games at SS for the next week. Does anyone know how close Javy is?
  17. All your base are belong to us. Especially home base.
  18. EDIT THIS IS THE WAY I PICTURE THE FUTURE!
  19. So, the next three games are against the White Sox in Chicago, which for the past couple years or so I would’ve looked forward to, but not so much anymore… EDIT nope I’m an idiot.
  20. I believe he needs younger players to try to intimidate and puff his chest out at. In Arizona and Houston, veteran teams, the players didn't have any respect for him at all and his attempt at being smartest man in baseball schtick. He lost the clubhouse at both those places. I don't think that works for a marginal manager with veteran players. Leyland might be able to get away with something like that but not a guy like Hinch, especially with his cheating scandal on the books.
  21. Since I’m not watching this game, I don’t know who went to the mound to talk to Anderson after he walked the first two batters. Did somebody tell him that him and his family would end up under the Ambassador Bridge with Jimmy Hoffa or something if he didn’t strike out the next three guys?
  22. Tigers win? It's a miracle. 3 straight strikeouts.
