  1. Double OT victory, my son’s favorite player Duren set a rookie record and he autographed his jersey. Best kind of memories made.

  2. Well all the bad ones have the thing in common. They put the $.25 profit over the health of the game and building fanbases. Real sports fans are devoted and passionate and they carry along those near them and build generational support for a sport. Grandma telling her grandbabies about Mark the Bird Fydrich being a crazy guy who could really pitch is what that is all about.

  3. Hronek took advantage of the space to come in about 10-15' closer, he'd been taking all his shots almost at the line - closer is always better!

  5. Plus the NFL realized the cost of going to a game was out of reach for a lot of people, so watching on TV was their only option. Droping the home blackout rule was one of the smartest moves ever. It ain't the pace of play that's the problem, one of the reasons to go to or watch/listen to a ballgame is just to relax and soak it in. The two most beloved radio broadcasters of all time were Vin Scully and Ernie Harwell...........they talked to you like a friend, they didn't scream and yell to oversell. Dan Dickerson is great at that, he only pitches it up when it's REAL. But what do I know, I'm just a simp in the the suburbs.

  6. Avila also traded players for guys he hoped would become good. We can hope that Harris is better at it. The deals they made this winter were actually closer to Randy Smith deals in th acquired players are closer to being finished products. We can also hope that Harris is better than Smith!

  7. I said this about Duren before the draft. If he can defend on the perimeter he will be a decent/good player. If he cant then he is worthless because that type of C can not play in the playoffs. Year after year we see the traditional big benched in the playoffs because offenses attack them on the perimeter. We see DPOY centers like Gobert struggle year after year because they cant defend on the perimeter in the playoffs. Drop coverage centers get roasted in the playoffs.

  8. No different than any free agent acquisition would have been at the position... and no different than keeping Candy would have been. Regarding the guys Ed mentioned, you dont just acquire for past track record, you acquire for what they could become. For all we know, as Ed suggests, Maton may be a underrated commodity and hold the position more firmly than we think. We just don't really know until they play the games

  9. When I did an inventory of the music I listen to the most and my favorite musicians, it went like this: Band I’ve listened to the most in the last three years: Cheap Trick My all time favorite guitarist: Rick Nielsen. My all time favorite vocalist: Robin Zander. My all time favorite drummer: Bun E Carlos By default it is established that Cheap Trick is my all time favorite band. https://youtu.be/wsa3DUnWPPk

  10. This is the one thing I'd give Weaver a pass on and more patience is required, because he was handed a pile of dung when he got here 3 years ago. People point to OKC, Houston, Orlando, Utah and San Antonio having this "treasure chest" of future 1sts while the Pistons have jack. Well, the Pistons didn't have George, Westbrook when he was good, CP3, Harden, Vucevic, Gordon, Mitchell, Gobert and Murray to sell off, he had broken Griffin and Rose, so no shit that those franchises have all these extra 1sts to work with. What I can't forgive Weaver is what has now turned out to be a disastrous 2020 draft. You can't have three top 18 picks (and give up assets to get the last two) and end up with a bench big, a barely NBA caliber PG and a reclamation project in Wiseman. Getting no surefire starters 3 years after the drafting 3 guys in the 1st is a massive fail and has set this thing back. Now we wait on Cade to be healthy (concerning since he's had multiple injuries in his first 2 years), Ivey and Duren to develop, lottery luck and for this or the next coach to develop somebody/anybody who isn't a very high draft pick. I'm still on board with this process but Weaver needs to start making some hay starting this offseason.

  11. I think he already had that conversation with the Tigers last fall, written up by the local press, and was 100% sincere about it.

  12. I was part of the “be patient” brigade. They did bring some guys in, but no one clear cut or who looks to be an upgrade. I’m still convinced that Schoop moves over there for some games, with Maton getting more starts at 2B.

  13. They got players that can maybe do more than he did in 2022, but not more than he did in 2020-2021.
