I hate it when people make criticisms of him and Tork about not being worth a 1/1 draft status. These aren't Matt Bush/Verlander comparisons. Nott every 1/1 is ARod or Chipper. Lots of Brien Taylor, Phil Nevin, and Paul Wilsons. Your most likely reasonable best hope is a Darin Erstad or Pat Burrell. Franchise players identified at that point are few.2 points

I was just thinking along those lines. We have open meetings acts to protect the public. I think it's time to make them mandatory closed door. Don't broadcast them. Publish transcripts with speaker names redacted. I'm serious. You learn who people are when nobody's looking.1 point

The Lakers lost in Atlanta last night, falling to 24-25. That's still good enough for a play in game. Any idea if they can trade in their mid season tournament banner to automatically zip ahead to the first round?1 point

From today's Bullwerk some interesting history on the 14th Amendment.... this is from a brief filed by Akil and Vikram Amar in the Trump 14th Amendment case... https://open.substack.com/pub/thebulwark/p/the-14th-amendment-wasnt-a-creative?r=45wcm&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email1 point

He might move to Safety though (at least per some draft reviews...). The other thing is (since I've been a draftnik since about 1981...) that: I'm now looking at guys as to whether or not they might be Brad Holmes/ Dan Campbell type guys... When I read "immensely talented but doesn't always give full effort/ questions on if he truly loves the game/ great cover guy but not a good tackler/ arm tackles a lot and doesn't make much effort to stop the run game...", etc... It gives me great pause on considering them on a draft board. "Will run through a brick wall to get to the runner" makes me think "Hmmm... sounds like a DC guy...". I think there may be a time to take a chance on an immense talent that might have questionable football character, but Holmes/ DC believe they can give the guy a push and in a strong locker room it'll also boost a player like that. Someone like Jalen Carter, just as an example. But I don't know if they're ready to do that just yet. I don't know if or when they will... So when I'm looking at CB's for example, DeJean is definitely a Holmes/ DC guy. So is Quin Mitchell, Terrion Arnold, Ennis Rakestraw and T.J. Tampa. Hugely aggressive corners, and tacklers/ good in the run game. But Kool-Aid is not. Not good in the run game. Not a good tackler. That's a Holmes/ DC no-no. Same with Nate Wiggins. So I'm ruling some guys out if there are certain questions, IMO, that Holmes/ DC would rule the guy out. Just something to think about for fellow draftniks. The 40 doesn't matter as much as the football character. And I like that they are using field-GPS instead of the 40 as well.1 point

I don't understand why Glenn gets blamed then in the same token you say how awful the CBs are. I think AG gets way more blame than he should. IMO, he doesn't have good enough/experienced enough personnel to run a conventional defense that can survive in this league so what he did, smartly, is acknowledge that after around the second Packers game and started blitzing more knowing that the defense would give up big plays but also forcing the QB into more mistakes so what happened was that while offenses had more big plays down the field the defense created a lot more turnovers and the points against went down a bit as a result. There's only so much he could do with a defense that was littered with youth, had vets (Sutton and Vildor) in over their head and no pass rushers to speak of outside of Hutch. I don't think Sutton should be cut, he struggled because due to the Moesley injury he was thrust into #1 CB duty which he's ill equipped to handle. He'll be better when, I assume, Holmes gets a #1 CB this offseason and pushes Sutton back to #2 CB where he belongs.1 point

Colin Cowherd has a great rant on the anti Swifties...basically telling them to get a life. Hey I can remember when Kid Rock would show up at hockey games with Pam Anderson. They seemed to get a bit of air time. And no one complained..1 point

Lol!!! According to the late Norm Mcdonald nobody has a worse potty mouth than Uecker, which in my mind somehow makes him even funnier.1 point

I’m not sure Sasser should be starting. But we know what Hayes is and it’s not going to help with winning in the present or future. Sasser should be getting minutes ahead of Hayes.1 point

I think I remember this correctly. Hayes started the game (yes). Morris came in when Hayes sat in the 1st (yes). Sasser came in when Morris went to the bench in the 2nd and that's when Detroit erased the deficit and pulled ahead for good (I think). Maybe its something, maybe its nothing. But play Sasser over Hayes just the same.1 point
