I'm being serious here. I didn't say they were more successful. They haven't even come close yet. I like their roster construction and the way they play the game more than the stars and scrubs group. This team and organization reminds of the team they had in the mid 80s in that they had no stars but a lot of depth and played well in every phase of the game. I also like that they don't wilt when they have an injury. Hopefully, they can continue developing players and not come to a full stop the way they did back then.3 points

Actually it’s a bad look to assume a criticism of a female writer is based on something “romantic” rather than the work itself. she’s not immune from criticism because of her gender. She’s redundant. “Win streak reached eight straight”. Uses emojis and hashtags unnecessarily and often lifts other people’s work. Nobody suggests a criticism of Mccosky is because he turned down a date.3 points

Dave didn't hit a home run in 2009 to be sure. The 2012 deadline was much better for him.1 point

We probably would have finished in 1st place and not needed a game 163 in 2009 if we did not acquire Wasburn (-0.7 WAR) and Huff (-0.8 WAR). Lots of negative WAR for two month rentals.1 point

It’s raining a little in Denver and it’s supposed to be raining a little more possibly a couple hours before the game, but it looks like this game should be a go-er Squire, nudge nudge wink wink say no more…1 point

left field. I was following on game day or via a message board and read the word "Sean Casey grounds out to LF" and spit out my tea.1 point

Deadline acquisition for the era 2006-2013 that pissed you off the most? 2009's Aubrey Huff. That jackweasel contributed nothing and was a bad human.1 point

There's a park downriver that borders Ecorse and Wyandotte called Council Point Park. THis is where the meeting between Pontiac and the leaders of the other tribes mentioned took place. The meeting decided to attack Fort Detroit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_Point_Park https://maps.app.goo.gl/KnqsLDMuDobdTBdC71 point

Revolutionary War 250 @revwar250.bsky.social “I could for myself wish to see your Friends Washington and [Charles] L[ee] at the Head of it and yet dare not propose it tho’ I have it in Contemplation. “I hope that matter will be Considered with more propriety in your Body [the Continental Congress] than ours [the Massachusetts provincial congress]. The AJ Hinch Tigers have yet to win as many games as the worst playoff season of those Tigers teams. Two pennants, four division titles, three straight ALCS appearances, and all of this started three years removed from losing 119 games. Are we being serious here?1 point

Evidently Trump got his Alcatraz idea from watching reruns of the Birdman From Alcatraz on the local PBS station in Palm Beach. Maybe they should start rerunning Mr Smith goes to Washington a few late Saturday nights. Or possibly All the King's Men1 point

Yeah he definitely did atleast judging by the views that were shown on TV. I didn't realize at the time though that the cutoff was like that, I thought it was just straight up behind the center of the 2nd base bag so when they showed it on the broadcast I thought he was good but knowing now that it is like that then yeah he was definitely guilty.1 point

This team is absolutely more fun. During the peak years it just seemed that an assembly of individuals were send out to play the game. Now we have a team full of highly trained ninja assassins who can actually run up walls.1 point

I was in Mich last week and got a bunch of Detroit-based commercials downloaded on my pods. This is a weird advocacy group trying to leverage Detroit baseball fans (or maybe all baseball fans) in the DC Metro to rally against the evils of lawsuit abuse which they blame for the rising cost of everything. If DC Metro fans are not suffering from oxygen deprivation they know that was not the reason for anything that was happening with the economy before the current economic chaos caused by Trump.1 point

I don't even miss the peak years of that team. It was fun, but this team is more fun1 point

Subaru is the quintessential Boulder vehicle pre-tech arrival. Just granola enough and just not-regular America enough. The LGBGTQx4rti aspect doesn't hurt that image.1 point

0-16 from three for Minnesota. They are like the people that insist the coin has to come up heads next time because it came up tails 10 times in a row.1 point

I don't know for sure but Vierling might need some extra time to get back into playing shape since he missed so much time. Longer than the average rehab assignment. I assume as an IL player, Vierling can't be the 27th man.1 point

No one until he proves otherwise...but that's true of a number of young players. I like what he brings offensively1 point

I bought it yesterday too. And I followed your advice and waited. The $69.99 for the entire season is a really, really good deal. I'm watching JV against the Cubbies tonight1 point

Chafin just pitched an inning for the Nats against Cleveland. He struggled but finished the inning without giving up a run. The Tigers are a better team without him. Nibbling at the strike zone, taking forever to throw a pitch and pretty wild. I'm happy with our BP.1 point

Huge no from me. Kessler adds shot blocking, but not necessarily rim protection. He allowed opponents to shoot 55% at the rim, which is not bad. For reference, Stewart was second best in the league at 46% and Duren is one of the worst at 62.3%. He has good PnR defensive numbers but never made the playoffs, so who knows if it translates. Good hands on offense. Not the lob threat the Duren is, but just as useless as Duren outside 5 feet. Kessler and Duren are both coming off of their rookie deals next summer, so they are about to get expensive. Having Kessler, Stewart, and Duren on the same roster is terrible roster management. Pick two and drop the third. Markannen has some talent. But he is owed around $200 million for the next 4 years. 8 years in the league and he has played 60+ games only 3 times. He is the type of player/contract that just kills organizations. Run away. I would roll the dice on Zion before Markannen. Similar concerns but much higher ceiling.1 point

On my iPhone, I asked a question about why the Japanese baseball season was shorter than the American season and this is what Google AI told me: AI Overview “Japanese baseball seasons are shorter than American (MLB) seasons primarily because they have fewer games…” At least they didn’t charge me for this sterling insight.1 point

My problem is with guys like Tatum. He shoots 55.9% from inside the arc which is 1.19 points per shot. He shoots 34.3% from three which is 1.02 points per shot. He took 15 three's tonight and 8 shots inside the arc. I can accept that if he is hot and hitting a ton of shots, but he was 4-15 from three. I'm fine with three point shooting. But I like it to be an inside out thing. Penetrate and kick to the open guy when the defense collapses and get your three's that way.1 point

Just a minute. Carson Kelly has 8 home runs in 61 at bats? Carson Kelly? Not to mention 17 walks against 7 strikeouts? This will be the day that I will always remember, the day that I realized that AI was deliberately distorting baseball stats, just to f*ck with us.1 point

The hippy freaks are the least obnoxious aspect of Denver metro culture: Besides the above...the other part of Denver metro culture... is the dumb money. I have a buddy who owns a bike shop in Boulder...that hippy dippy culture has faded as the tech bros moved in (I guess Google set up shop) but its still sort of there among the stupid money people who park their Porches across multiple parking lines because their daddy has a lawyer on retainer to fight parking tickets.0 points
