  1. The other issue with that alignment is that one of Carpenter/Canha is on the bench. Unfortunately the team offense isn’t in position to do that.
  2. It’s the Bennedict Mathurin effect.
  3. I forget which one it was (3rd or 4th movie), but the edition with Sean Connery was a good pairing of the two.
  4. Is it sponsored? The answer to all your questions is money.
  5. I heard a comment (and can’t remember where now) that the Tigers aren’t really confident yet in Perez as an OF. Last night was probably garbage time. Or maybe what I heard was bunk.
  6. The irony here is that Selleck was considered for the role of Indiana Jones. But I think the Magnum PI thing didn't allow for time on a movie set.
  7. My thought after last night was hedging towards putting a lineup out there for the early game to win it and go from there in the "nightcap". But then here's the thing with the position players. They're all on call all day today. Kelly probably catches the early game and Rogers probably catches the second game. Greene probably gets a game at DH and a game in the field. I think those might have been the only assumptions going into today. I kind of wish Faedo stayed in to finish last night's game and then Chafin and Vest were fully ready to go today. Maybe I'm thinking of it wrong, but I think have more fully ready arms available today would have been the way to go. We know Hinch doesn't like to use pitchers in both games as he ahs said as much. And just because the trio pitched yesterday, that doesn't mean none of them are available today. But I think this situation goes back building a bullpen with more multiple inning options. Having the scheduled day off this week does help things out. The doubleheader doesn't, although Manning up as the 27th man. I'd option Manning down again after today as that availability is there. Its unfortunate for him. Maybe Olson would be a consideration there. But his spot in the rotation and Manning today doesn't line up well for the next go round. Maybe if Mize had looked poor he gets sent down to "rehab". But that just doesn't seem to be the scenario.
  8. Of course the slump now has always been a possibility. I'm fine with allowing more time in Detroit. How long that lasts is up for debate. And the flip side of the transaction is something that I have not seen much suggestion for.
  9. That transportation mode makes sense. A slingshot is slightly underqualified. That would barely get someone to north of Monroe from either direction. Although if the winds last night were lined up just right, it could've worked one way.
  10. That makes sense given Carpenter/Canha as the 3rd OF. Neither of that duo is entrenched as a specific corner OF above the other corner OF.
  11. There's part of the conundrum for me. If the team offense is good, there's no worries about Baez and Meadows at the bottom of the order because 1-7 are getting it done. That's not the case here. Baez isn't going anywhere. Meadows has options. But do the Tigers have options? Sure, they could swap Baddoo in for Meadows, they could cover CF with Greene/Vierling. I suppose that's worth a try if this malaise continues. That gives Baddoo a final shot at MLB with the Tigers and allows Meadows time to sort things out in AAA. It is kind of interesting, I thought the majority pulse of this place was Meadows was the starting CF, no questions asked. Two weeks into the season, and that changes (and I'm not calling either of you two or anyone else out specifically)?
  12. Is the gain on offense sufficient bs the loss on defense? I suppose they could recall Baddoo. I don’t know, I think it’s still kind of early in the season to make that call.
  13. Taking the first game of a series and drilling into a bullpen a bit the day before a doubleheader is damn fine day. Thank goodness the driveway was dry today.
  14. Regarding Meadows, yes, he’s definitely in an offensive funk. It’s extremely noticeable in the numbers because it’s still early in the season. Is it as damning if he’d have had a reasonable April and May with this slump occurring in June? And the defense isn’t going to slump. There may be some merit to the fact that Greene can “relax” in a corner OF spot and maybe not tax his body so much if he ere in CF.
  15. Yeah, not ideal with a doubleheader tomorrow. Pitch count climbing quickly after a relatively easy 1st and 2nd.
  16. Baddoo led off the game with a single. Thrown out on a strikeout throw out caught stealing of 2B. So, while not a strikeout, the nonstrikeout out occurred on a strikeout.
  17. I watched his 2nd inning. Struck out the side except for a 4 pitch walk. He just might work out.
  18. Shut the bleep outta here.
  19. Cora trying to take the heat off of Baez?
  20. Hopefully Torkelson can pull his pop ups and take advantage of the jet stream.
  21. Ms. Nabozny, tear down this revised LF wall!
  22. Well, they're first round matchup is set. I could see a little load management.
  23. Now you're just bragging.
