  1. To start the game, yes. But he got his glove into the Opening Day game. And today’s lineup gets all of the position players some game time in the first two games. I like that given the roster and the flexibility within it. Get guys active.
  2. Pitcher’s blowin’ up! BOOM!
  3. So today might be a good example of saving innings in Toledo. Overnight rain, should taper off throughout the day, but we'll see what happens. Should it be rained out, tomorrow becomes a 14 inning day rather than 18 innings between the two days. Day off on Monday. Do they push tomorrow's SP to Tuesday? Maybe just a light bullpen session but keep the timing of the rotation intact to the Julian day rather than pushing that SP to the 3rd game of the season? This is probably just a marginal effect in the grand scheme, but when teams look for advantages within the margins, does this cumulatively help conserve innings for usage later in the season?
  4. Priming up for the April playoff run.
  5. Measure twice, cut once. Or something like that. 😁
  6. I don't know if the Tigers would need to go with bullpen days as much as the organization would have Toledo employ that. It will happen at some point, caused by illness or maybe short term filling a spot start or inability to get a SP up from Toledo in time. But the Tigers should be set up well enough to not have to deal with it much at the MLB level.
  7. It wouldn't hurt to add a video of what you're barking about.
  8. Yes, that's a good question. My worthless guess is they might skip starts in the AAA rotation to save innings as one measure of "saving" innings for eventual call ups. They've already got all but 2 Mondays off this season, so there's one day off per week there. Maybe they go with a combination of RP every once in a while to skip or push back starts throughout the season. They might also push back starts for rainouts. Postponements that are made up are done so as 7 inning doubleheaders. So, when the opportunity allows, they might go with the SP in the first game and just bring in RP for the rest of the day. Maybe they start the second game of the doubleheader with a multiple inning RP or even piggyback a game with 2 multiple innings RPs. Something along the lines of two pitchers going 6 IP and 1 IP in game one and three pitchers going 3, 3, and 1 in the second. That's an overly simplistic example, and the opportunity might not present itself all that often. However, the pre Memorial Day weather does present itself to be more likely for Mother Nature to assist with this. So perhaps they can bank a few innings early on in the season. I think the key to maximizing the availability of SP depth is going to be in saving some of those innings in AAA for later use in MLB. Its good to have the depth on a piece of paper. But gating that availability through the health issues and slumps that the Tigers (or any team) are likely to encounter throughout the season are going to have to be plotted out with guesstimation to some degree.
  9. Yeah, much worse at the very beginning of the game. I’m not sure, but it looks to be slightly different than last season. Like maybe higher and off the to the other side of CF? I don’t know, I could be wrong about that.
  10. Good sound off of the stick, but right at the 1Bdude.
  11. Gather ‘round, kids. Wenceel is at the dish again.
  12. Malloy with a diving catch in LF. Not the fleetest of foot, but kind of into the sun and he made the play with what looked to the shortest route possible.
  13. 4 years and this is where the restoration is? I guess he moved out some contracts for younger talent, but it is either not developed correctly and/or cohesively. And with all of the transactions along the way, a lot have been questionable at best. There’s young talent, but there should be given where they’ve been drafting.
  14. I guess it depends upon what one considers “periphery”. Sniffing a play in spot right now would be lower 30 wins in the East (Houston at 37 in the West good for only 11th right now).
  15. Manning looks pretty good so far. Gave up a 440 foot poke to dead center, but he’s struck out 6 through 3. Perez with a double and triple in his first two plate appearances. Dingler tossed out a base thief in training. Darn good weather for a home opener.
  16. Speaking of the Toledo drawbridge formerly known as I-280…. Craig Bridge closed for electrical repairs https://www.13abc.com/2024/03/29/craig-bridge-closed-electrical-repairs/
  17. I just want to know who has that thing in their backyard now.
  18. Accurate body language.
  19. This seems more like a threat than a bonus.
  20. That was pretty interesting seeing him amongst the paying folk. He’s gotten the front office in order. He brought in Beneti. He fixed the shower heads in Lakeland. Maybe he’s figuring things out?
  21. Not sure what else you could have been doing, but I bet it was a waste of time.
