    They never really seemed to cut into the deficit too much after the 1st. They'd get it to maybe 7, but then give up a few buckets in a row to make that a double digit hill to climb. But How often do teams match each other exactly for 3 of the 4 quarters? That's your stat of the day.

    I don't know. I think maybe he returned to the mound too quickly and really isn't ready to be pitching quite yet. So, I think what we're seeing in the playoffs isn't necessarily how he'll perform next season. Although as far as the salary goes, $43M is kind of a ridiculous price tag.

    How would you handle a regular season from May through August followed by playoffs for a month and a half? How many teams would you bring into the playoffs and how would the playoffs work?

    Yes, we have to keep in mind how young this team is, there's a new coach implementing a new system, their franchise player missed all of last season, and they still need more talent (either through maturation or acquisition). All of this is going to lead to inconsistencies throughout this season.

    No, I was watching the recording, but didn't get into it until around 8:30-8:45. I don't always do game threads during live game, certainly not when I am watching on delay.

    Ewing had that intimidating physique. Both he and Duren are pretty cut, but Ewing had more mass to his frame. His shadow would knock you on your ass if you drove the lane and I’m not sure Duren is thick enough to have a shadow.

    Yes, this. I think the MLB powers that be have flexed full on this, so I doubt it’s going away.

    Fun start to the season. There’s definitely a different vibe to this team with Cunningham on the floor. The offense needs work, the turnovers are aggravating. But I love defense, and this team looks like they’re interested in playing it. If they can keep up the defense and grow into offense this will be an enjoyable season of growth.

    Hopefully he’s more offensive (on the court) and less crazy (on and off the court) than Rodman.

    What’s that supposed to mean? I simply meant it sounds like there’s too much documentation about what happened. Maybe the due diligence was to the wrong side.

    The Padres are one avenue to bring in talent at positions of need. I think I recall that Cincinnati and Baltimore also seem to have a good amount of IF depth, so there's that.

    Mental health is an issue, sure. But this is a situation where a mental health issue was discovered months ago. And yet, here we are with another mass shooting. So now what? Tell you what, the new speaker of the house wants to be a leader and believes he has the solution to the problem? Drop his ass off in Maine, let him be a part of the manhunt, let him try to talk the gun out of Card's hands. Go ahead, let leadership have at it.
