  1. N O. H no. F no.
  2. I would think multiple divisions would be constructed to minimize travel for the less profitable / red number sports. Football scheduling is one thing. But baseball/softball? Heck, even basketball at two games/week. And do they make it such that something like Rutgers' mens' & womens' basketball teams travel together to play USC & UCLA on the same trip? I guess the one simplistic thing with basketball is you just play everybody once in the regular season (19 games total) before the tournament. So, how permanent is a 20 team conference? Do the non football sports eventually break down into smaller geographically based conferences, not just divisions? This has all just become such a silly farce.
  3. That's the Deuce effect. Hair of the dog doesn't help out hand eye coordination all that well.
  4. They'll probably want a pregame parade, too.
  5. Malloy is hitting again: I know Vierling played 3B the other day in Pittsburgh. I didn't pay much attention to how he fared there, I was multitasking with the game on. Yeah, I know, where are my priorities. Is there room for Malloy before September? He's been playing the corner outfields in Toledo. Can he do the same in Detroit and can Vierling get an extended look at 3B? Just kind of see what could be for next season? It becomes a bit of a juggling act with Vierling currently the backup CF to Greene, but maybe some of those duties can go to Baddoo?
  6. Happy anniversary Joe Niekro's emery board.
  7. Tampa Bay Rays vs Detroit Tigers Watch: National - Apple TV+ (don't blame me) Listen: Tigers - 97.1 The Ticket, Rays - WDAE 620 AM/95.3 FM, WQBN/1300AM
  8. Kept him through arbitration, so that's a plus, right?
  9. No Tiger fan wants to go back to 2003.
  10. It is highly possible he likes it in Detroit, sure. And I agree, some people would prefer a smaller setting than a bigger setting. I guess we'll see how much he likes Detroit at when its time for opt decision.
  11. They're 8-7 in extra inning games. Basically .500 which is probably what would be expected (maybe 7-8 since they're a below .500 team). In fact: Its a crude analysis, but the problem is getting blown out and not blowing out the opposition.
  12. Rodriguez' next home start will be vs the Twins, probably on Tuesday, August 8 if the 5 man rotation holds true.
  13. If he pitches clean and healthy to finish the season and for some reason he opts in, does his trade value increase because of the known contract control or does it decrease because of the incidents? Or to what degree do these variables factor in?
  14. The heart broken Jake Rogers loving Hollywood starlets.
  15. I would also like to know what other 9 teams are on Rodriguez' no trade clause. I've either searched in the wrong areas or its buried within the recipe of fruitcake. I don't begrudge the use of the no trade clause. It just seems to me that there wasn't good faith negotiating somewhere along the way. There was a deal in place, the participants knew there was an obstacle, but it wasn't addressed until, what, 2 hours before the deadline? This doesn't sit well after last year's episode where the specific issue wasn't the fault, it was the lack of communication from Rodriguez and his agent. I guess from my position, and I understand I'm completely on the outside looking in, one of these incidents by itself is a one off. But one after the other is a bit of an eye opener.
  16. It all depends on what the return is, which, we may never know what it was. I don't know how reliable the ratings on MLB pipeline are, but the Dodgers have 6 catchers among their top 30 prospects. They are mostly younger and lower level, but there's also one at AAA. Maybe among the package are the AAA C and a younger C (as well as other prospects).
  17. In an alternate universe, the prospect hounds are ecstatic beyond belief.
  18. I gotta be honest, I don’t think I like larger conferences. 10-12 teams, that’s fine. If they pull in more PAC teams to get to 20, they’ll eventually get to 24 if Notre Dame joins the conference.
  19. Rogers is already 28 years old. He may not have a lot of MLB experience, but he’s no spring chicken either.
  20. White Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks to undergo Tommy John surgery. The poor chap just defeated cancer earlier this year, and now this? I suppose the good thing is it’s only TJ and not a reoccurrence of cancer.
  21. It depends upon what the Tigers would have received. If there’s a young MLB ready catcher coming back as part of the trade, that’d be fine.
  22. That’s the only contract decision there is to make. It’s his to opt in or opt out. There shouldn’t be an extension. The Tigers can look to trade him for a bat if he opts in.
  23. I think he deserved a stronger vote for the hall of fame than he received.
  24. Easy on the writers. Some of them have noted the draft compensation should Rodriguez decide to opt out.
  25. When can we go back to chatting about Candelario?
