  1. Nobody is arguing that he needs to hit more. But you suggested benching him as a means to get him to opt out. Ain’t happening. It’s an absolutely foolish theory. He’ll make more salary over the next 4 seasons with the Tigers than he would if he opts out. That’s simply all there is to it.
  2. I don’t think it would work quite the way some folks hope this would work.
  3. Immaculate Grid 107 8/9: Rarity: 275 🟩🟩🟩 🟩⬜️🟩 🟩🟩🟩 Play at: https://immaculategrid.com @immaculategrid x @baseball_ref Learned a lesson today. Gorman Thomas is an answer. I accidentally typed in Thomas Gorman, and sure enough some chap from 1884 was the wrong answer. C’est la vie.
  4. Ok, tough outing for Skubal. It’s going to happen. Get him out of there.
  5. There’s a definite flaw in the logic there.
  6. It seems like there was a lot of hope that he could be an under the radar type of find at the time. Turns out not so much.
  7. What’s with IF Corey Joyce in Toledo? Has he suddenly found something or is this just a short term mirage?
  8. I don’t know, he might stick around through the end of the season. Who gets called up in his place?
  9. This stupid (person using the) iPad and it’s (obvious need for) spellcheck!
  10. 24 years old playing NAIA. Seems a bit old, and at a lower echelon school. But what do I know.
  11. It was mentioned on the radio last night that Greene would get a day off today. The primary reason is to rest the league. It probably doesn’t hurt that a lefty is on the mound, but that’s probably of secondary concern. Carpenter gets another crack at a lefty, so that’s good. I’d like to see more of it going forward. If healthy, an OF of Greene in CF flanked by Carpenter and Vierling vs LHPs would be fine. I’d rather see what Carpenter can do rather than hope Haase comes out of his doldrums.
  12. The dreaded lefty vs lefty matchup probably.
  13. Why would benching him now with the hopes of getting him to opt out help him as a free agent this off-season versus what he would be guaranteed by opting in?
  14. Part time baseball player, part time surfer dude. He was a Tiger a few seasons ago. Might be an answer in an upcoming immaculate grid.
  15. He reached for it, but missed.
  16. Holton is an interesting case. He's not arbitration eligible until 2026. He's controllable and left handed and he's been very effective this season. Will some other team overvalue him at this deadline? I doubt he's traded, but you never know.
  17. Not that they would be the same groups of resources going through the efforts, but the time and energy spent on trying to trade Baez or anger him to the point of opting out would be better spent to help him get back to the player that he was in Chicago.
  18. You’re welcome. Good night.
  19. Agree. I’m tired. Let’s get this over with quickly and painlessly and victoriously.
  20. I guess Lange ain’t the only one due for a 1, 2, 3.
  21. He’s due for a 1, 2, 3, right?
  22. I need a QB sleeve for all of these acronyms.
