  1. Don't they want Cisnero and Shreve, too?
  2. Perhaps, but Candelario had played some 1B along the way. Who plays 1B when Torkelson sits? Ibanez and Nevin have a pair of games each this season. That's it, that's the list.
  3. I had a Carolina Mudcats hat a long time about. Cream hat, black bill, with the red C and silver cat coming through it. I believe the merch store was called The Bait Shop.
  4. That's kind of what I am thinking. There was probably some hope for Malloy to take over at 3B when he was acquired with Keith somewhere later on down the line. But in theory, Candelario could have been he interim 3B for 2023, so ....
  5. Good point, I hadn't considered the Cubs' & the CBT.
  6. Speaking of, I know its contrary to popular thought for a crud team to trade away young & controlled players, but if the Tigers could augment a deal to bring back some young & controlled MLB ready IF help, they have to entertain discussions for players like Carpenter, Malloy, MeadowsP, do they not? The OF is lefty heavy (Carpenter/MeadowsP) and I think it'd be nice to have actual OFs playing OF (Carpenter/Malloy) and the jury is still out on hitting at the MLB level (MeadowsP/Malloy).
  7. We're talking the difference of, what, $1M? $7M - $5M prorated for less than the last half of the season? I understand there are several variables at play when these deals are made. But it also seems odd that the Cubs would balk at an extra $1M.
  8. Its like they have the pitcher batting 5th. And that .611 in the leadoff spot sticks out, too.
  9. Yeah, I used Price as an "answer" for PIttsburgh - Detroit the other day on immaculate grid and then found out I was wrong. I didn't realize he never played for the Pirates outside of the minors. So, I wanted to go with Price, and then when I found this image, I had to use it.
  10. Two game series in Pittsburgh. The Steel City Quickie.
  11. Detroit Tigers vs Pittsburgh Pirates Watch: Pirates - ATT SportsNet-PIT, Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit Listen: Pirates - KDKA-FM 93.7, Tigers - 97.1 The Ticket
  12. Was this before Deuce was around?
  13. I don’t know about that. Salary scolds > prospect hounds > sabers > Jerk Sox. Maybe we need a heal hurt for that.
  14. I don’t know what his opinion was at the time. Had he been all in at the time, quoting that tweet would have been a better move. In my opinion, keeping/cutting was around a 50/50 proposition. I was fine with bringing him back, even at arbitration rates given how his 2022 was clearly a floor for him and thinking a rebound would have been possible. I didn’t think he’d rebound like this, and I kind of doubt anyone did. Good for Candelario, he’s resurrected his career and might be looking at guaranteed multiple seasons this winter. And as for the replacements, well, sure, can’t hide from those numbers. So we’re comparing peak Candelario to valley Candelario. Of course with hindsight anyone can jump on the bandwagon now.
  15. Prospect hounds. That’s pretty good.
  16. We're close enough now that he can take a trip across the international date line and see what we will find out tomorrow. Just don't spoil it for the rest of us.
  17. Did Jeffrey Maier catch any of them?
  18. That's a great point. Why doesn't bbref track this?
  19. Who are you going to put at SS?
  20. That's fine. But the tweet being talked about is an odd looking piece of information. 3 HR in 4 IP and yet top 3 stuff in the minors. The sentences don't necessarily go together at first glance.
  21. He's going to get benched and then get mad and then opt out due to frustration.
  22. Update to the AL standings. Minnesota, the 10th best winning percentage, would win the division and be allowed into the playoffs ahead of 4 other teams with better winning percentages if the playoffs were to begin today. They would line jump Boston (3 games behind), New York (2), Los Angeles (1 1/2), and Seattle (1).
  23. If ever there comes a time when the Tigers have too many pitching prospects, they can surely find some trade partners to help them out. Same goes for position players. The focus right now should simply be to get the best package of talent in return of impending free agents before the trade deadline. Now, there can be debate about quality versus quantity, I think that's fair. But I wouldn't be too worried about pitcher or position player right now.
  24. "asmuchtalentaspossible" is the word I would use here.
