  1. I want to say I remember watching that final game, a Sunday game, and a Mariners fan jumped onto the top of the Tiger dugout with a broom and started joyfully sweeping.
  2. Could’ve swore I had this in the season predictions thread.
  3. Maybe, maybe not. Keep in mind what we see on TV is different than what he’s seeing from his angle. Although, I do wonder if he played very conservatively given his foibles earlier in the game. Plus, weren’t there 0 outs? Struggling pitcher, they probably didn’t have anyone warming up. Yes, the next 3 hitters aren’t exactly awe inspiring, but bases full with none out? I like the odds of getting a point there.
  4. Where’s the thread author when you need him?
  5. The whippersnappers in the league office probably refer to your generation as “the complete gamers”.
  6. They still have to go 27-5. 27-5 is a helluva month. And they’ve already got 8-0 in the bag. That 35-5 is just incredible.
  7. I suspect they might have had the option of playing a Thursday home game, but since they’re traveling from Seattle, they opted for Friday. That’s fine. This opening series being against the Jerk Sox, they can make up lost games as double healers or maybe common off days later on in the season.
  8. I fully understand it’s that same drive that makes him an effective if undersized big. But Stewart’s got that reputation now and too often crosses the line. How do they get some of that defensive acumen into Duren’s game? Just a smidge of basket protection.
  9. The hat makes him look creepy.
  10. He hasn’t by now, so what do you think the odds are that he will?
  11. The Jerk Sox win via pythag.
  12. Tough day. I wonder, had he not gone to retake the runner on the stolen base (Bliss?), does Seattle challenge? It turned out to be nothing in the end, so, ok, big deal. Then when he was out at the plate, he clearly ran inside the running lane. If the throw hits him, is he automatically called out? And if not, can the play be challenged?
  13. Tony Gwynn had 434 SOs in 20 MLB seasons. Tony Gywnn had 596 assists in 4 NCAA basketball seasons.
  14. Pull Sunday's game up to Saturday due to the oncoming monsoons?
  15. Probably Skubal.
  16. Yeah, but I can do without Stewart’s technicals and Reed’s three point attempts.
  17. I am the walrus. Coo coo, ca choo.
  18. Actually what had happened was the Tigers won 2 of the 3 game, but the gestapos in MLB used AI to broadcast a Dodgers sweep. We are now in an alternate universe, but we’ll be linked back up to reality in a few weeks. Look, if you’re going to go half baked drama queen conspiracy theory, don’t half ass it. Step into it full throttle.
  19. Perhaps if either were running for Margot that run in game 2 counts because of better baserunning and the game doesn't go into extras. But that's possibly too much assumption for one play. I don't think OF defense in their absences was an issue, so there's that. I guess on the flip side it could be said that their injuries allowed Torkelson to be with the team. Difficult to assume either or both of Vierling/Meadows would have matched Torkelson's 1.532 OPS in the series.
  20. They couldn't get him an Angels' or a Saints' jacket from Starter?
  21. Swept in the series, but they were definitely in the first two games. Not being able to capitalize with runners in scoring position has been an issue, and I dare say game three might have been different had Sasaki been justifiably booked with a few more runs before his short night was over. On to Seattle.
  22. While everyone is complaining about the Dodgers operating within the rules, some of said behavior which was also enacted by a previous Tiger owner, I will say the salary deferrals irritate me. I think it’s been pointed out that they count in the luxury tax equation, which is one thing. But it seems like bad practice to me, kind of like giving a 15 year old a credit card.
