  1. Well, they're going to have plenty of time to kill in between the conference finals and the league finals.
  2. It probably has a lot to do with the current cycle of abysmal suck that the team has been in for the last several seasons, but nothing is ever said about retaining Rodriguez. It is both understandable and frustrating.
  3. Sorry about the faulty date, hope you still caught the game.

  5. Keith has basically a full MLB season in his minor league career. Not exactly a scientific projection, but it is encouraging. Also of note is that he's been younger than his competition.
  6. Looking forward to seeing secret weapon Udonis Haslem lining up against Nikola Jokic in the finals.

  8. Oh, I’m fine with giving him more rope. I think part of his issue is that he’s still building stamina as he didn’t go too deep down in Toledo. Here’s part of the problem for the Tigers, though. They’re already dabbling into the 7th and 8th SPs and ain’t much more available. The outing he tossed might be good for an 7th/8th SP, but it’s certainly not league average. And then tack on Wentz struggling again today. There’s nobody in Toledo worthy of calling up. If one of the current SPs has to miss a start or, God forbid, plural starts, they’re probably going to have to see what Randy Wolf is doing these days.
  9. Weird game. Washington cracks 18 hits, but only 6 runs. Tigers had plenty of TTBDNSs. They walked more than they struck out. Baddoo had a good game at the plate, but a couple of issues in the field. Mediocre team is mediocring right now. Just when the schedule “got easy”, too.
  10. I wonder if he’d have been retained if he were more consistent? Maybe not. Take away some of the peaks and valleys and he’s still slightly below average as a hitter through last season. And that isn’t helpful at a position where offense is traditionally expected and his defense isn’t likely to make up for it. He seems like he’s going to be a year to year type of player going forward. Maybe a two year deal max, maybe a one year with an option/vesting tacked onto it, but probably looking at one year deals. Still not a bad way to make a living.
  11. Schoop may only be around right now until Carpenter returns or if Malloy is promoted.
  12. Disagree. That’s a 5.40 ERA. MLB average is around 4.50. That might be splitting hairs, but again, each effective inning thrown by the rotation takes the burden off of the bullpen. Maybe the outing is good for a minor league call up, and that’s fine. The problem for the Tigers is who would be the next call up if/when that is needed? Hinch and Fetter have been pretty good with the bullpen. But honestly how comfortable is the bullpen situation outside of Foley and Lange?
  13. Yes. So I don't know if this is a byproduct of having minor league starting pitchers (or at least any of the potential major league call ups) not go far at all in games. Or maybe quite simply this is just what he is. Probably moreso the latter than the former. Either way, I think its a good illustration of how tenuous the starting pitching depth is right now, and really, for the next few months at least.

  15. Faedo through 2 on only 24 pitches. Any and all efficient innings tossed by the starters are a boon to maintaining the bullpen over the course of the season.
  16. Yes, he drilled that. Unfortunately he hit it so hard, he had to stay with a single rather than a double.
  17. It’s crazy to think Henry Aaron started his pro career as a cross handed hitter. A hall of fame player started out with a completely fundamental oddity, was still good enough to get that far despite that, corrected it, and then went on to be Henry freaking Aaron.

  19. Ah, there we go, some common ground.
  20. I agree I was more on board with keeping Candelario, but it was a much more gray area decision than black & white. Schoop, on the other hand….. yikes! I genuinely feel badly for him because it seems he came into camp in much better shape than last season. Gotta give him credit for putting some work in over the winter. It just isn’t working out well on the field.
  21. If you think the Tigers can’t have nice things, you should head over to the Pistons forum after the draft lottery fallout.
