  1. Doesn’t sound like a kid that’s trying to figure out which class to enroll in for the fall. Sounds pretty well spoken for a kid a few weeks out of high school.
  2. That snarky and subtle flip of the bird holding the baseball? You know he’s going to have his own version of the Billy Ripken bat knob baseball card.
  3. He needs the money for eye black.
  4. They could be birthmarks.
  5. He’s been hitting well in Toledo, but so was Nevin. He may have gotten his eye for the strike zone readjusted, too. Maybe he has just dug himself such a hole that the only way out was cheap success in AAA? I don’t know. Hopefully he’s slated for 2B rather than 3B upon his return. I think those positions will be pretty much platoon with McKinstry & Maton vs RHPs and Ibanez & Short vs LHPs.
  6. But the problem is he’s from Amish Indiana. So those 5 tools are butter churning, horse & buggy driving, beard growing, knitting, and barn raising. How is Hinch going to play chess with that?
  7. I‘ll sign up for that.
  8. I’ll still screw up a game thread somewheres in there.
  9. I’m no fan of Cisnero, but Lange’s wildness is too much. Can’t be confident in a 5+ BB/9. Too much like Soto.
  10. Just draft a future hall of famer. That’s all I’m asking with the pick.
  11. I don’t think it can be understated how awful the weather was for Manning in that first inning and how he really seemed to struggle with getting a grip on the baseball. And them look and behold, a no hitter was pitched.
  12. That is kind of odd. Rogers should be the primary receiver and it’s day game after day game. On the other hand, Haase has two no hitters under his watch, so there is that bullet point.
  13. Load management during games will be fun.
  14. Toronto Blue Jays vs Detroit Tigers Watch: Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit, Blue Jays - Sportsnet, TVA Sports, SN NOW App Listen: Tigers - 97.1 The Ticket, Blue Jays - SN590, Sportsnet.ca
  15. There’s still time to get that ring. Just need to pull a 2006 Cardinals. Hey, the division is there for the taking.
  16. I’ve been to Wrigley a few times. Fortunately I got to watch one from the LF rooftop bleachers across the street before they closed all that access up. Tickets, transportation food and drinks comped by work. I should have had a few more pops. The first one was an absolute luck out. Summer of ‘91, a couple of friends went from Toledo, but got shut out at the booth. Some dude heard us complaining, had extras from work, sold them to us for maybe $10 or $20 each, and it turns out they were 2nd row just behind 3rd base.
  17. The biggest 0 in the box score today is 0 pitching injuries.
  18. I took a tour of Fenway this week. The history and nostalgia and all of that is fun. The angle of the wall around the Pesky Pole in RF is much more impressive in front of you than on TV and sitting atop the Green Monster and all of that. I know a lot of stadiums way back when we’re susceptible to fires, and Fenway was a partial victim, but I learned a tornado also ripped down part of the CF stands. Anyway, walking around and hearing the stories and all of that, and I’m looking at the hundred year old seats and aisles wide enough for two people if they maneuver past each other sideways,…. That’s got to be an absolutely miserable place to watch a ballgame. And no trough urinals? I’m sorry, but a place that old needs to have trough urinals.
  19. Yup. It’s nothing personal, but it’s time to move on.
  20. Hitting’ the sauce early today, eh?
  21. I think the majority of folks here were in favor. I know no one predicted the results for both sides of the deal.
