  1. That's the story of my athletic life.
  2. You won't see him on the floor tonight vs the Pistons.
  3. Can't lose them all. Ivey and Duran played well, which is nice for the future. Bogdanoich, Bey, and Burks had good stretches/games which might be short term memory gains and/or value enhancements on the trade front. And Diallo did some good Diallo things. Maybe its just me, but I find him fascinating. You just don't know what the results will be, but the kid seems to be always at full go. It reminds me of young Rodman as far as the energy and athleticism goes.
  4. Oh, how you dare you call out a hometown favorite for past shenanigans.
  5. Is it different voices depending on the scenario? That's how I roll.
  6. LOL..... thanks. I'm not trying to sound like a prick, but I do know that that rule exists. It was a bad joke gone awry. I let it loose as hard as I could throw it and it ended up off target. Call it a Gregory Soto fastball.
  7. Phoenix Suns vs Detroit Pistons
  8. And just for the record, Doug Strange had 31 career home runs. But @oblong had live visual of his only home run as a Tiger. I hope you still have that ticket stub.
  9. It was a Labor Day day game. Only 17K there, so I’ll bet you had plenty of elbow room. Bo Jackson played, but only as a DH. I know he probably needed DH days, too, but geez, what a contrast of LFs between he and 38 year old Fred Lynn. And between the two, Jackson was the one that had his body betray him at a still youthful age.
  10. Not if he ain’t wearing a Tiger cap.
  11. His 300th HR was as a Tiger and hit off of Kansas City’s Bret Saberhagen on September 4, 1989. The Tigers traded Chris Hoiles and two players to be named later for him. Now that I think about it, “players to be named later” is a ridiculous phrase. Unless the player is not yet born, they probably have a name. That phrase should probably be changed.
  12. Nah.......
  13. No, but he may have sired a few Detroiters.
  14. 130 + 100 + 40 + 30 +15 = 315 games for the analysts. Sounds like a 3 man booth with Shepard's play by play. Or maybe the 315 includes the pre & post game shows? I don't know.
  15. Suarez did have some minor league playing time in Cincinnati's organization (246 PAs), but the majority of his minor league career was with Detroit (2,205 PAs). Now, that's not to say once he arrived from the minors he was a complete player. Certainly he developed some in the majors. I think its fair to give Detroit some credit for Suarez. At the very least, he did make his MLB debut with Detroit. His minor league numbers were such that his promotion to Detroit wasn't a shock. Could be a situation where Cincinnati finished that development off or further improved him beyond what Detroit could have been able to do.
  16. Yes, you're right. I could have stated that better. The similarity between the two is indeed with respect to the development as a Tiger minor leaguer. The nonsimilarity between the two is that Joyce returned some value and Suarez returned some crap.
  17. Similarly, how about Eugenio Suarez? Well, not quite similarly. Joyce and Suarez got very different returns.
  18. Can he be MVP and still be underrated?
  19. I heard this yesterday and forgot to post the box score. Wilt Chamberlain's double triple double, minimums of 20, on 02/02/1968.
  20. Charlotte Hornets vs Detroit Pistons
  21. 84Lives needs a break. We thought you could handle it for a short bit.
  22. It might not seem bad. But the results are pretty plain to see and hard to argue against. We should have seen contributions in the majors and depth at the high minors by now. That isn’t the case. Avila has had plenty of time. The organization isn’t where it needs to be. How many more seasons of bottom 5 records does this team need to go through before the farm system churns out some quality? It takes more than drafting high to build from within. It didn’t happen. We can hope all we want with the prospects in place. But at some point, the hope needs to be replaced with results at the major league level. Until then, the organization doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. It hasn’t earned it.
  23. (E) Avila didn’t do well enough at his job and was justifiably released and we can go on with life hoping that Harris is the right person to run the organization going forward.
