  1. I can see Myers. RHH OF, insurance at 1B. That's probably the kind of short term contract for a player trying to bounce back that seems likely. Brantley is a darn good LHH bat. It would seem like he could find better opportunities elsewhere, but who knows.
  2. Our friends and families can only hope so.
  3. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of fish in the free agent pond. There are some big ones out there. But it doesn't seem like non tendering Candelario and some others are the difference in whether or not to play in free agency. Maybe they can extract a league average position player on an above league average contract along with some legit prospect(s) from a team that has a shorter term deal that they'd like to move. Anthony Rendon was mentioned somewheres around here. That contract is probably too rich/long to take on, and I don't fully know what his injury deal has been the last two seasons. But I think looking at his stats, there's reason to believe that of he can regain his health, he'll bounce back as a player. In spite of his summary production the last couple of seasons, he's been a guy that has maintained his control of the strike zone while BABIP (and health) have been his enemy. Heck, given the acquisition of Urshela, maybe the Angels would consider holding onto some of the Rendon salary liability and kick in some futures just to move him out of town?
  4. Well, now this is ridiculous. We haven't had a Tiger game thread to throw our anguish around in months. The days are getting shorter. The weather is getting colder. Our families and friends are sick of the extra exposure to us that we would normally be devoting to the Tigers during the regular season. Time to relax? Balderdash. Now is the time of our discontent.
  5. That's a probability.
  6. That's a possibility.
  7. And around a year ago at this time, there was a lot of chatter in favor of Kreidler as the starting SS.
  8. Not sure why Cisnero was kept. Seems a waste of a roster spot. I would’ve placed more value on Candelario and CastroW than Cisnero. But I’m an idiot, so there’s that. Short seems an odd keep, too.
  9. Well, there isn’t any reason to toss money at FA 3Bdudes. Gio Urshela was traded today. That’s another 3Bdude off of the (trade) market.
  10. We know what they’ve shown, and given other options, I can see the rationale to keep them. We know what they’ve shown, and the front office might see other players to pursue and/or they simply don’t think these players will be worth retaining. I guess we’ll find out sometime today which way the wind is blowing.
  11. I can understand going either way on Candelario. Same for CastroW, same for Alexander.
  12. This was the obvious response and several posts missed it.
  13. I would think with the dearth of 3Bdudes available, Longoria and Turner should be able to find a better (winning) situation elsewhere. On the other hand, Kenny Rogers pitched in more World Series games for the Tigers than my pre2006 logic would have thought, so what do I know?
  14. Stupid work firewalls about googledocs. Remind me about this when I get home please.
  15. If mini golf and football had a kid.....
  16. Would this include the 2023 Tigers? 😖
  17. Give them some music and some chairs, see if they can make a game out of it.
  18. CastroW is a combination of young enough, cheap enough, and versatile enough where exposing him to different coaching might be worth keeping him around for another season. Didn't Harris say they were looking for a RHH OF and LHH IF? He's a switch hitting utility hitter. Maybe that's all he'll ever be. But keep in mind the entirety of how the roster is composed. If they go with 13 Ps, they'll carry 2 Cs and 1 DH only (when Cabrera is healthy). That leaves 10 guys to cover 8 positions. Baez will play everyday, and hopefully Meadows too.. I imagine Greene and Torkelson would ideally be playing everyday. If so, they're down to 6 guys to cover 3 positions, but keeping in mind that Baez/Greene/Torkelson/Meadows will need a day off here and there, but probably more taxing will be Cabrera not playing everyday. Although assuming 4 everyday players, with 6 covering the remaining 3 positions, that shouldn't be an issue. Just to be clear, I don't assume Schoop returns next season, but I would imagine that he plays everyday if he does return. Does CastroW still have options? They could stuff him in Toledo to see if his game improves if they have they wiggle room on the 40 to get him there.
  19. Sees score, opens box score, appreciates that the Clippers started the game with only 2 players for several minutes just to keep the final score under 100.
  20. This roady is going enhance the lottery chances.
  21. Detroit Pistons vs Los Angeles Lakers
  22. Circus on Friday but no clowns and animals until Sunday?
  23. They can't do that. That'd be completely unfair to the Bills. There's no way the NFL would move the Bills-Lions off of Thanksgiving, so whatever solution they come up with have that as an immovable object. I would expect the NFLPA to rightfully object to moving the Browns-Bills game back without making a similar move with Bills-Lions. I would imagine if they do something with Browns-Bills, it would have to be announced sometime today, right? And the later we get in the week, the more likely it would be a venue change rather than moving the game from Sunday to Saturday. Not that its the main concern in this, but CBS has an open slot Saturday 12-3. If the game then wouldn't interfere with metro Buffalo prepping for / dealing with the storm on Sunday, couldn't that be a solution? My understanding is that the storm is supposed to hit Sunday, but if it is due before that, then Saturday in Buffalo might not be wise either.
  24. So, it sounds like there's about a thousandy inches of snow due to fall on the Browns-Bills game this weekend. I know it makes for a fun TV watch, but, I don't know, maybe it isn't wise to tie up resources for a football game when they might be needed to help with basic everyday life during the storm? Maybe moving the game to Cleveland or elsewhere or another time outside of the window of the storm would make some sense?
  25. Actually, that's probably a bit heavy handed to fans of the Nets. I'd amend to say, its great to see a couple of malcontents like Durant & Irving fail spectacularly at their attempt to run a team.
