  1. Yeah, with all of the pitchers that found themselves on the 40 out of necessity and with the guys on the 60 day IL that will need to be reinstated, plus the players hitting the rule 5 eligibility, the Tigers probably have some moves to be made.
  2. Ah, OK. A drunk idiot doing what a drunk idiot does.
  3. You do you, my man. But I feel little pity for you once you bemoan your favorite college gridiron’s efforts. Nothing personal, it’s just business. Likewise, I’m sure.
  4. I see a cheap shot shove from behind there by someone not in a football jersey, but that’s all I get out of it. What’s up?
  5. Meh….. They fell short on their own doing. But, you gotta wonder what Hinch could be thinking about it considering he interviewed for the job that ultimately went to LaRussa.
  6. And just like that, Schoop singles home the lead run.
  7. Carpenter hits the other way against the shift, gets Haase from 1B to 3B. Love it. Granted Moncada probably should have fielded it, but put it in play, make the defense work.
  8. He’s had some damn fine plays this season.
  9. Part of the confusion is that its still September and there is a lot of unknown to sort through yet to determine who is who and what is what.
  10. Its not a night game, so not as treacherous. Those night games in the corn fields seem to be the the scariest.
  11. Maybe the AP should just assign "Vacated" to spots 3 and 4?
  12. They tried to schedule UConn, but it just wouldn't align.
  13. Baez heads to the plate in the top of the first with a broom, just to give the crowd a rise.
  14. I'll take that trade off.
  15. In a toss between Reyes and Cameron as 4th OF..... what's behind door number 3?
  16. Its OK to expect much more out of a 4th or 5th OF than what Cameron projects to be. Hell, he's a 4th or 5th OF for Toledo based on his statistics there.
  17. Detroit Tigers (59-92) at Chicago White Sox (76-73)
  18. I can see them eating Schoop's contract. I question whether his defensive prowess might be exposed once the shift rules come into play. He doesn't seem to be the most rangey middle infielder, and I wonder how much he benefits from the short right field vs left hitters. Maybe it isn't all that much, I don't know. But regardless of that, the bat is just not helpful. The Tigers obviously will have a much better read on Meadows than any of us, but sitting behind the keyboard, I think they need to go with the assumption that a new season will give Meadows's tenure in Detroit a 2nd chance at things. Obviously if he decides that he's done with the game, that opens up the spot. But for now, I think its reasonable to assume that his bat will be in the lineup. And if not, they have enough holes to fill where taking a chance on young players like Carpenter and Baddoo to fill out the OF vs RHPs is fine for now. They need to add a RHH OF to the mix however the Meadows situation plays out.
  19. This is rich coming from someone thinking that Daz Cameron has a future with the Tigers.
  20. Thanks. And along with those rankings are some good minor league numbers to kind of back it up. I understand he won't be free. Add in the facts that he plays for a team that likes to build from within and that the current starting C Perez is getting some salt to go with the pepper, and he's a tough pull, sure. Heck, they might start looking to get Perez out from behind the plate more while keeping his bat in the lineup.
  21. What kind of prospect is Melendez? I don't have a clue. He's out up some pretty good minor league numbers. He's been a good enough player for them to get his bat into the lineup as an OF and even DH. If they're asking for one of Greene/Torkelson, than there's no way.
  22. Watching my daughter's marching band. I'm biased, sure. But this band is really good and a very popular activity for kids to be involved in (140-150 kids out of about 1,000 total high school). And after helping chaperone for a couple of football games and being at the game from that perspective and knowing their summer and daily after school practice schedules (Mon-Thurs including a week of two a days in the summer), it just opened my eyes to all of the work that goes into it.
  23. My guess is that he goes unclaimed. His hitting has been dreadful. If I am remembering this right, I think his defense has always been on the below side of average. He's already 27. I think the stats and the mileage on him make him the type of player teams wouldn't want to protect over a prospect on the teeter totter of the rule 5 draft.
  24. Melendez has quietly put up a reasonable season for a rookie C. He's also played some OF. I doubt Kansas City would move him, he's young and cheap. But a tandem of Melendez/Haase is interesting when you look at the numbers in total. Weird thing about Melendez is that he has shown reverse splits this season (.695 vs RHPs and .894 vs LHPs).
