  1. How does this compare to your 5 other posted Opening Day rosters?
  2. I missed out on the full bluster of it because I was just too young at the time. I have the lore and the stories to go by. And the legendary Sports Illustrated cover. And the grainy Monday night game vs New York. Man..... to be around and following the Tigers at that time. But you're right, there's no way it would be the same these days. Media is so much different. Baseball scouting is different. Chris Shelton captured the fans' imagination. Akil Baddoo certainly did. These are a couple of guys that shot out of nowhere to have good rookie seasons. But for as much fun as those stories were, I can't imagine anything comparing to how Fidrych burst onto the scene.
  3. Detroit Tigers vs Baltimore Orioles No radio. No television. No fun.
  4. Detroit Tigers vs Philadelphia Phillies Watch: Phillies - NBCSP+
  5. I agree, I think in close & late situations, the clock should be discarded. That is one caveat that I wish would have been built into the rule. And maybe there will be enough discussion about it that they will edit it a bit.
  6. Wouldn't that be great if navigation took these things into consideration? "Proceed southbound on I-75. Take the next exit after the Big Butter Jesus."
  7. Atlanta Braves vs Detroit Tigers Watch: Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit, Braves - Bally Sports South Listen: Tigers - WXYT 1270, Braves - WIFN 1340 AM/103.7FM
  8. Ed Cooley leaving Providence seems odd to me.
  9. They were probably longshots since they weren't on the 40. Diaz had 12 SOs in 6 1/3 IP along with 3 BBs and 3 Hs. Not sure about the competition that he faced, but that's not bad.
  10. Detroit Pistons vs Atlanta Hawks
  11. Detroit Tigers vs New York Yankees Watch: Yankees - YES Listen: Yankees - WFAN 660/101.9 FM, Tigers - WXYT 1270
  12. As long as the ball is coming off of his bat well, it'll find holes eventually. I think he was the victim of some bad luck last season. He'll have his rookie season behind him. Hopefully a reversal of fortune (ie, a more in line BABIP). I think he's going to have a pretty good season.
  13. He did say nobody was qualified to qualify his speed as a runner.
  14. Toronto Blue Jays vs Detroit Tigers Watch: Tigers - Bally Sports Detroit, Blue Jays - SNET Listen: Tigers - WXYT 1270, Blue Jays - MLB.com
  15. If Vierling is out for too long, is Maybin next in line as the RHH OF?
  16. Quickest radio analyst in baseball? Gotta be.
  17. Another option is figuring out a way for the current baseball audience to stop getting older. Anybody got any ideas?
  18. Depending upon how one looks at a calendar (Sun-Sat or Mon-Sun), Opening Day is next week. Never mind the dusting of snow that was on the ground this morning. The games are for real next week. Every game is televised and radioised. The dugouts aren’t as crowded. It’s American League and National League rather groupings of citrus and prickly plants. We’re almost there.
  19. I didn’t notice that. I did a quick search and Anthony Tolliver popped up. I liked him for what his role was supposed to be.
  20. Johnathan Davis gets a day off?
