  1. I'm not so sure now that taking the ND job would be a slam dunk for him. Cincy is a real chance at the playoffs. While there is quite a bit of bluster about expanding the playoffs, I'll believe it when I see it. It took this long to get to 4, heck, how long did it take to get #1 vs 32 together in the same bowl before that? There are no guarantees that he gets ND into a playoff. Plus, there's the BS of being the head coach at ND, and dealing with all of the faux holier than thou stuff that comes along with it, and the alumni, and the academics, and yada, yada, yada. It ain't for everyone. It'd be a bigger paycheck, sure. We can agree on that.
  2. Wouldn't that be something if they announced another addition right at the last moment?
  3. Helluva week for Michigan fans. The victory against Ohio State. Now turmoil at Notre Dame. First appearance in the B1G championship game coming up this weekend.
  4. Grossman, 9/7 Greene, 8/9 Baez, 6 Torkelson, 3 Candelario, 5 Cabrera, DH Schoop, 4 Catching tandem Baddoo, 7 / Hill, 8 I think that's what we're looking at for Opening Day
  5. Baez will opt out, purely out of respect to future HOF Ryan Kreidler.
  6. Law is employing the old fashioned jinx on the Tigers.
  7. Ain't no party like a Yo Gabba Gabba party,......
  8. I wish I still had my Fresh Beat Band concert T shirt.
  9. I prefer testy Harbaugh over chesty Harbaugh, but both are entertaining.
  10. The 2021 Padres have some thoughts about that.
  11. Do we need to conduct a wellness check on @1984Echoes?
  12. So, do you want me to call Al, or are you handling it?
  13. That just means he'll opt out after 2022. That's OK, maybe a Clemens/Kreidler platoon at 2B emerges in time to replace Schoop?
  14. Oh, I think USC hit a home run with Riley. I think I recall hearing there was a slight fear that he might move on from Oklahoma to the pros, but the USC thing was a coup. I didn't realize he had only another season with Oklahoma.
  15. As for the SP, using MLB trade rumors as a gauge, the prediction for Stroman is 5/$110M. They had Gausman at 6/$138M and he got 5/$110M. They had Ray at 5/$130M and he got 5/$115M with an opt out. They had Scherzer at 3/$120M and he got 3/$130M with an opt out from a jilted drunken sailor at closing time. Kick the tires on Stroman.
  16. Same could be said about USC, although ND allows him the comfort of staying in the Midwest which is supposedly a priority for him.
  17. I suppose. It'll be interesting to see what ND would put into the contract as a buy out from Fickell's side.
  18. There is the 2 year opt out possibility, but the swiftness with which he signed with the Tigers is encouraging.
  19. If you're Fickell, assuming his eyes are ultimately on OSU, what do you do? Do you grab ND while you can move up and stay in the Midwest or do you hold out hope that Day moves on sooner rather than later?
  20. Apparently he has two dogs, named Boomer and Sooner. What happens here?
  21. I hope its for fewer than 6. I wouldn't have wanted to sign him for more than 4, but the Rangers grabbing 2 of the SS options kind of screwed up the SS market (either via trade or free agency). I'm curious what Story would have wanted (if he were interested in Detroit at all). I wasn't interested in him at all in the beginning because of his home/road splits, but I've softened on that. I think we'll all enjoy Baez' glove and baseball acumen. It seems like he's an amped up version of Iglesias, plus power & baserunning on top of that. The free swinging is going to be annoying, but if he can settle into the 6th/7th spot of the lineup and isn't needed as a focal point of the offense, it'll be fine. They still need to find another SP, and BPs always seem to need some tinkering. Marcus Stroman?
