Candelario might not be a cornerstone for the next playoff team, but is he taking time away from a possible cornerstone of the next playoff team? I think he’s a good candidate to bounce back. If he does bounce back, I don’t think he’s going to get a next contract that’s expensive in years or salary. Although now that I think about it, I didn’t expect to see Correa sign 3 deals in one off-season, so what the heck do I know?
When Shepard was named permanent play-by-play, I thought there would be gradual improvement over the years. Maybe with Morris out of the booth, he can be a little less stark struck and improve upon where he is? I do think that could be part of the issue.
Then again, I'm of the age where I've heard a lot of broadcasting by guys that ranged from pretty darn good to iconic, and I think a lot of other folks around these parts fit my demographic. Have we been spoiled? Are we expecting too much? Is what we get from TV similar to what happens for a lot of other MLB teams?
My mother-in-law buys us scratch offs for Christmas. I would rather have the cash.
I used to have to deal with the lottery when I worked in a grocery store in the past. Yes, a lot of "frequent flyers", and sad because this store was in a lower income area.
I thought bbref had number of different lineups used in a season, but maybe they don't? It'd be interesting to see what the total was last season and this year will stack up next to it.
Maybe, maybe not. He doesn’t control the strike zone and he isn’t really versatile. I think his defense is due for a sharp step back without the shift.
Assuming reasonable health and no other significant changes between now and then:
Green will be the CF. He's earned it.
Baez will be the SS. He's earned it (over the course of his career).
Meadows will be the RF vs RHPs for sure. He's earned it (over the course of his career).
Cabrera will be the DH around every other day at minimum when healthy.
Haase will be the primary C.
Everything else is probably up in the air, and lineups will likely be different on a day to day basis. Certainly there is hope that Torkelson earns 1B out of camp and that they can cobble together a roster that is well rounded and flexible as there are probably going to be many platoons, call ups, send downs, etc.
He drew, what, 3 or 4 charges today?
Another loss, but they were undersized, Bojanovich was out, Stewart got into early foul trouble, etc, etc.
On to Paris.
