  1. MLB doesn’t care about Labor Day. In previous seasons, they didn’t care if teams were playing or had an off day. Make your own assumptions why. On the bright side, for the teams that are playing, at least they aren’t wearing the trash jerseys that MLB likes to pump out there for other days.
  2. Yeah, you're right, I had forgotten about the 1st down and time stops for moving the change. I guess I'm still trying to get the brain into football mode.
  3. Detroit Tigers (51-83) at Los Angeles Angels (58-76)
  4. The way that got swept under the rug by the holy Notre Dame is disgusting.
  5. No way the Tigers will sign Ordonez, Rodriguez, and Rogers. Oh, wait, that happened, didn’t it?
  6. So what do they do? Just sit on their cash and hope that Al Avila’s farm system suddenly pumps prospects up to the major league? I got news for you, ain’t happening.
  7. I like the Wilmer Flores for 3B suggestion.
  8. LSU was gifted that final play. The clock should have run out the play before. F Brian Kelly. That guy is as much of a scum as Urban Meyer.
  9. He will not be including today on his resume video.
  10. I tend to agree. If they could attached a qualifier for the 2nd season, that might be different. Speaking of Candelario, poor defense allows the lead run to score. Is he reading this forum during the game?
  11. I’m all for adding value to players by having them play other positions. Its just tough to see how his career sub .700 minor league OPS will do anything for the Tigers in the majors.
  12. So, just throwing out numbers, say he’s looking at $7M for next season via arb. By more favorable, I assume you mean from the perspective of the Tigers? So something like, I don’t know, 2/$12M with incentives attached?
  13. Sanchez is probably playing 1B because that position was previously handled by Torkelson and Lester, both of whom are with Detroit now.
  14. I can’t see signing him to a multi year deal, but it all depends upon the language of the contract. Even if he has a good 2023, he has an inconsistent track record. So how many teams would look to sign him to a longer deal? Right now, I would imagine a nominal 2 year guaranteed deal would be tough for him to find.
  15. Completely agree. He and Greene need to play everyday. Probably Kreidler as well, although he doesn’t have the same expectation about him.
  16. I think one of the things that work in Candelario’s favor as of now is that the probable IF for next season, at least as far as incumbents go, is RHB heavy. His SHB, although ineffective this season, probably works to in favor of bringing him back. And in fairness, he has had success on the lefty side of the plate. Similarly, this might be a reason to bring Reyes back as a bench OF. His SHB breaks up the possible LHB heavy OF. But that’s just one of the many variables heading into the off-season. Again, who knows what new leadership will want to accomplish this off-season. It might be more about improving the player development process of the organization for the long term and less about major league player acquisition for 2023.
  17. It’s tough to gauge right now without a GM in place. The pros and cons are probably equal in weight. I suspect he is brought back and they kick the longer term 3B decision down the road, but it’s just an uneducated guess.
  18. I would hate to be at a game sitting behind an umbrella. Fortunately for those there today, there are plenty of open seats to move around to.
  19. Candelario with an E on a relatively easy throw to CastroH. Just another straw on the non tender pile.
  20. There were a few of those, including one by backup RB Miyan Williams. He has some beast in him, watching him was fun. He may not have the elusiveness or break away speed, but he was tough to bring down without a fight.
  21. So, does Lester make his MLB player debut as a mop up reliever today?
  22. The talent might be there, but I didn't think it was all that impressive last night. I don't know, I'm not a leatherhead with Xs and Os, but either Notre Dame had a helluva game plan with keeping everything in front of them on defense and not allowing any long gains and/or the OSU offense was just not clicking. Maybe it was just a matter of getting into game speed or lining up against another team or something like that. It just took them a while to get things going. As it was, I'll take the W and buddha bought drinks. Yesterday, it was a good day.
  23. I would settle for an authentic game worn jersey with my name on it (even if I just rode the pine) and an entry on baseball reference.
  24. Maybe the Mud Hens had a ping pong battle royale to determine Cabrera's replacement and Lester was the winner?
  25. Seems odd that someone already on the 40 wouldn't be called up. But maybe this is just a reward cup of coffee. Or maybe he fills the role of Barbaro Garbey or Rod Allen on the 1984 team?
