  1. It seems for me that part of the radio pregame is always cut off.
  2. By no means am I suggest he’s a bust or anything like that. And certainly it’s a tough gig for a guy under 23 years old, especially when he was learning a new defensive position. In spite of his hitting struggles, he’s had a fantastic eye at the plate so far this season. So, there’s hope for sure.
  3. San Diego is in Houston for the ESPN Sunday night game tonight. Here’s hoping the Easter Bunny delivered extra innings for that game.
  4. The other thing working against the Pistons is that Towns can step out on the perimeter and shoot. If Duren/Stewart are on him without switching, that's easy pickings for the Knicks when they blow by the perimeter defense. I think that's why we saw Harris guarding him a bit more than maybe was expected.
  5. I was thinking about catching for the Padres series while watching this game. Day game (Royals finale), then night, night, day vs the Padres. So how will that play out? Nido gets at least one of those vs San Diego. Dinger would get normal rest going into today's game (vs Kansas City) followed by a little extended rest going into Monday night's game. Could rest him Tuesday to play Wednesday with Thursday as an off day. Without looking at pitching matchups, that's probably how I would handle it.
  6. Yes, this is the answer. If the game gets out of hand to either side, it might be an earlier exit for Greene or maybe even Torkelson, Carpenter, or Torres. Everybody else is a platoonable player.
  7. Seems the kitty cat is missing a paw.
  8. Thought I heard on a pod that Chafin is only up to around 90 MPH on his fastball. Plus he's not on the 40 already. At this point, what utility is there to having Manning on the 40 if he's not going to be called up? I suppose the true answer might also be that Horn has more pitches available should the Tigers need to just get through a game.
  9. It was there for the taking. Just a frustrating and painful 4th. As dismal as it was they were down only 6 with 90some seconds left. Still trying to figure out how that miracle happened.
  10. Stop stealing Confucius’ work without properly crediting him.
  11. Why is there an assumption that Keith is one of the best hitters on the team? I feel he gets too much credit for something he hasn’t shown at the major league level outside of a month or two last season. It’s not to say he won’t be good. But he needs to prove he’s good before he’s anointed as good.
  12. What will slow down the process is when MLB realizes that they should be seeking advertising ties into the reviews.
  13. Riley Greene 0 strikeouts the last 2 games.
  14. I don’t mind bringing him back to see if last season was a fluke. His work so far suggests he’s done. Foley might have been a logical replacement if he hadn’t tweaked his shoulder. I’d say keep Montero on a SP workload in case he’s needed in that capacity. There are other RP options on the 40 to call up. Maybe they’re biding time for one of Guenther/Chafin to be an extra LHRP?
  15. You’re the blue dot? That’s an awfully big property you have there.
  16. May 26, 2008 was the last time the Pistons won a playoff game. We were all so young and stupid back then. Now we’re no longer quite as young.
  17. You know, if it weren't for Tyler Alexander's handful of innings, the Tiger offense was basically a no show this series.
  18. I don’t care who wins coach of the year. It’s just nice to have the Pistons in that kind of a conversation.
  19. Take a bow.
  20. Nah, I don’t think so. It seems more likely to win a game giving up 5 than it is scoring only 1. I understand the intent of bringing someone up to start today’s game given the current climate of pitching. I don’t like the current climate of pitching, but it is what it is.
  21. Catfish Hunter said something along the lines of "the sun doesn't shine on the same dog's ass everyday".
  22. 3 outta 4 ain't bad. And considering the longer term, its the right 3.
  23. If you remove their series vs the Tigers,... The Dodgers have scored 52 runs and given up 58, with record of 8-5. The White Sox have scored 43 runs and given up 40 runs, with a record of 4-7.
  24. Wins are losses are what drives the standings. But I like to look at series during the regular season and how a team maneuvers through that chapter. Taking the first two games of a series is just absolutely empowering to me. It means that series is likely won considering most series three games. Or it could mean its been at least tied in terms of a four game series, or even lesser so, swept for the rare two game series. Teams don't want to give up a game going into it, and at the same time, they have to pick and choose spots to play the rest vs rust game with the roster. The Tigers have played five series so far, counting this one in Minnesota. We know they were swept in Dodger Stadium, but I still contend that the 0-3 wasn't as bad as it would seem on the surface. They held their own in the series and could have just as easily left with a 1-2 or 2-1 record if a couple of close plays go the other way. That asterisk aside, the Tigers have started each of the next four series by winning the first two games in each. It probably isn't measurable, and I don't know how to prove it as a theory. But I think there's something to taking command early on in a series that can sometimes just crush the souls in the other dugout.
