  1. Hinch doesn’t come across very charismatic, not lately anyway. Could be the toll of losing, could be that’s just his persona with the media and may be more charismatic with his employs. Personally I would stick someone like Urban Meyer in between the spectrum of Hinch and Hitler.
  2. I was just teasing you in good fun. Besides, if Hinch were around, it would be wine and not water that I would be walking through.
  3. They're going to sign a giant squid to play first base. (Note to @buddha: I don't really believe this. I am just being sarcasticalistic.)
  4. I easily think someone here was of the opinion and voiced it last season. But then he also thinks you can toss non degree holding people into classrooms to teach kids in K-3rd, so his opinion is sometimes just complete unthought buffoonery.
  5. Are we simply seeing the flip side of luck from what we saw last season? There has been a lot of bad luck with injuries, but I think that's more on the pitching side. Meadows has been the flukiest of all and it has impaired the offense. But this awful season from the sticks isn't solely due to Meadows, and its got to be time to make some sort of changes (including demoting Torkelson to work on his game).
  6. First pitch is actually 1:40, not 1:10. If a moderator could edit the thread title, that'd be great. It'd be even better if the thread starter could get it right to begin with, but, I mean, you know, we understand what we are dealing with here.
  7. Its a make for a couple of games lost due to the lock out from the first week of the season. They had to stuff it in somewhere. I remember looking at schedules before they reworked things and there weren't any other logical make up dates for both teams. One would have a day off, and the other would be playing. Oakland have a day off and Detroit would have a day off, but it would necessitate a cross country trip for Detroit from the east to the west (for one day) back to the east. Things like that. Just by luck of the draw, the Tigers were supposed to open out west (Oakland and Seattle) and travel makes rescheduling tough. And so now beginning next season, every team will play against every other MLB team (which I do like that concept), but rescheduling postponed games could prove equally tough.
  8. I think everybody needs this upcoming all star break.
  9. Maybe this is too simplistic of a summary of a terms of the agreement, but the Tigers don't have any options to accept or decline. They are on the hook through 2023. Options kick in for 2024/2025 based on the MVP vote. I suppose they could DFA Cabrera, but that doesn't seem likely at all.
  10. Does Candelario have any options left?
  11. I don't think there are two distinct sides of the board in regards to Hinch. And I don't think anyone considers him Hitler.

  13. That’s probably a reasonable observation. But, the post to which you responded was in reference to commentary around these parts last season that thought Hinch’s role with the organization was more than what it was. In fact, there was belief that he in fact was doing some of the GM work, and perhaps even turned water into wine during his spare time.
  14. Candelario sitting again, eh?
  15. Agree with you, might as well pad the loss column. You can toss Rogers in there as one that I’m afraid might be rushed back as well. Sure, he probably doesn’t have the longer term potential as Turnbull or Manning, but I’d prefer nothing sooner than a call up when rosters expand. Even at that, they probably need to take it easy with him.
  16. Well, the Ilitch family has shown incredibly loyal to a fault. Mike kept Randy Smith around for way too long. Smith was fired. I’m not sure Avila is fired, maybe he gets bumped elsewhere. But the current state of malaise cannot continue. Something has to change somewhere. The problem with this season is that the bats are ineffective, but I suspect the pitching injuries will be the blame. That’d be absolute bullwash if that’s the direction that story of the season goes.
  17. What the heck? I thought the thread title was “Visual Amusement”?
  18. Hold on now, I thought Hinch was pulling the strings last season. What happened?
  19. The 2022 Tiger offense in terms of football: 3 inches and a word cloud of profanity from the fans.
  20. I’m not sure his absence has created many more losses than had he been here, at least through this point. Somehow or another with all of the pitching chaos, the Tigers are basically at league average of runs allowed. Sure, having Rodriguez around would likely improve those metrics, but by how much? I think his absence has created more scrambling with the roster and shuffling back and forth than should be expected. Now, I do think we will see an eventual collapse of that smoke and mirrors in the second half. Whispers of slowing down some of the work for the younger guys that have stepped up have been getting a bit louder on the broadcasts. The bullpen pieces should be for sale as they can be valuable to other teams with need. This season’s demise, as it’s turning out so far, is squarely on the abysmal offense. The Rodriguez situation might be different at that point, but it’s all speculation as to what’s really going on there. Obviously as has been mentioned the loss of the draft pick and lost opportunity to sign another starter rather than he. The same could be said if his arm blew up. The reasoning behind this situation is just more aggravating at this point because of the noted lack of communication on the player’s side.

  22. The outfield walls are too far away.
  23. The Tigers are in Toronto at the end of the month. Do we hope that "hitting" coaches and/or bats are placed on the restricted list?
