  1. I'm willing to be a test case.
  2. The first playoff committee rankings come out this week? OK, I predict: 1. Georgia (no prediction necessary here) 2. Oklahoma (same) 3. Michigan State 4. Alabama 5. Cincinnati 6. Ohio State 7. Notre Dame 8. Oregon 9. Wake Forest 10. Michigan Cincinnati gave the committee an excuse to get dropped because of its sluggish performance at Tulane (which, let's be honest, is a purely subjective metric that some power 5 teams wouldn't be dinged for). Maybe Alabama & Cincinnati switch spots, but Alabama will be the top 1 loss choice. It won't happen, but I'm hoping both Cincinnati and Wake Forest remain undefeated. What does the committee do then? Quite clearly the SEC champion will be in the top 4. They'd easily keep Cincinnati out of the top 4 and again point to the Tulane game as the excuse. But how will they handle an undefeated Wake Forest? Georgia has clinched its spot in the SEC championship game already. Minnesota has the inside track as the Big Ten West representative. That L hosting Bowling Green doesn't stick out at all.
  3. One is the shade of the other at times.
  4. Detroit Pistons (1-4) vs Brooklyn Nets (3-3)
  5. I didn’t get to watch while Anderson was pitching. I did hear a small bit of the game while he was in and there was a comment about him still struggling to find the plate. Looking at the box score, it was something like 39 strikes to 37 balls. With that kind of ratio and a slim lead, and with the playoffs having much more of an emphasis on winning the game in front of you as opposed to the regular season when a team needs to manage itself more for the long haul, by all means, take a struggling pitcher out if there are better pitching options in the arm barn.
  6. Personally I wouldn't spend much money on a 30% SO, .300 OBP bat. His OPS is based a lot on ISO and BABIP. If/when those normalize to league average, what kind of bat will he be then? There's no argument about his game instincts. That can help a player make up for aging skills. The rundown he got into running to 1B allowing a runner from 3B to score was something that has to be seen, describing it doesn't do justice. But how far can that take him?
  7. He's limited on tools and I think he is being swept up into the SS FA frenzy because of the timing of his FA. You mention his OBP sucks and he Ks a lot but still has power. What happens if he loses his power? How much salary should a defense only SS get? Or, what happens when his defense regresses and he becomes a middle infielder with power being his calling card? What will his worth be then compared to his salary? Does his bat play if//when he has to move from SS to 2B/3B? I guess my point is I think he's a pretty incomplete player and I would imagine he is probably going to get a long term deal. He just seems to risky to me.
  8. I don't understand it at all either, especially in this day and age of computerized graphics. Its an inexcusable situation with no means to adequately make amends for the tragedy. Sure, there can be changes made going forward, but this shouldn't have happened in the first place.
  9. We have two mature maples in the front yard separated by no more than 15-20 feet, pretty much due north/south of each other. The one in the south has it's leaves completely turn to orange pink and start falling off whilst the tree in the north is still a very solid green.
  10. My cable provider offers Bally Sports Detroit and Bally Sports Detroit Plus. The Red Wings are on the main BSD channel. The Plus channel is running FDNY vs NYPD Football, In the Spotlight: Bobby Valentine, The Icons: Leadership in Sports (Roman Oben & Paul Tagliabue), etc, etc. Has this game been rated NC-17 (and therefore not televised during normal hours) for macabre brutality or something?
  11. Orlando Magic (1-5) vs Detroit Pistons (0-4)
  12. I‘ll second the motion.
  13. That was borderline painful to watch.
  14. I see you, Lee.
  15. Yellowhammer Estates.
  16. This seems reasonable. And the tweet may not capture the whole rehab arrangement. As far as having access to the facilities, it could simply be a standard protocol given the lengths of the rehab and the contract not lining up. In addition to that, there are the protocols of COVID (which, OK, Texas and all, but maybe MLB's protocols). And given Verlander's status, the Astros may have decided to keep their resource intact for their season and allowed Verlander to seek a rehab team that he was comfortable working with. The rehab folks can work back and forth with the Astros on different rehab programs & guidelines for pitchers while the rehab team does the day-to-day rehab work. Or maybe the Astros did kind of pull the rug on Verlander, but he's cool enough to realize that he's an older free agent coming off of TJ and getting into a public word battle doesn't make a whole lot of sense for him. Remember, he's preached from the pulpit before on domestic violence and cheating in baseball, but when those questions got turned around on him in regards to the Astros trading for Roberto Osuna and the whole sign stealing deal, he kind of turtled up a bit.
  17. Wow, that is interesting and seems like it is out of nowhere.
  18. https://www.motownforums.com/ Duh!
  19. Yes, I see it on Cots now. I was looking at bbref earlier and it doesn't have the 2022 standard extension & 2023 club option (no buyout) noted.
  20. Crud. I should have done it this way: Anyone interested in the Tigers acquiring this resume? There's been plenty of banter about Verlander being brought back and, to a much lesser degree, Scherzer. I don't recall anyone bringing up Morton, who might be a better fit since the price tag likely won't be as exorbitant and he could still fill a pretty significant hole for the Tigers.
  21. Charlie Morton is a free agent after this season. Just for whatever its worth.
  22. Yes, Detroit won the season series over Houston 5-2. It doesn't mean they were a better team this season. Atlanta won the playoff series over Los Angeles. It doesn't mean they were a better team this season.
  23. Detroit Pistons (0-3) vs Philadelphia 76ers (2-2)
  24. Its going to be tough replacing a salt of the earth kind of guy.
