  1. What’s going on there?
  2. One day at a time, homey, one day at a time.
  3. I don't think anyone questions they need better position players. Whether the threshold is an .800 OPS or maybe something more along the lines of OPS+ based, this offense needs help. I think Flaherty has pitched himself to a point where a trade return is going to be better than the qualifying offer compensation. Maybe that's debatable given his recent back issue, I don't know. I think he gets traded before the deadline. As fun as the Tigers have looked lately, its tough to see this stretch continuing given the pitching rotation health. They've given themselves a puncher's chance, but let's see how they get through Cleveland and Minnesota. The other issue is that they're chasing teams down, so they have to rely on their downfalls as well. I think Skubal could still command a similarly high return during the offseason. I think he'll be kept unless the offer is too much to decline. I do disagree with what you said about replacing him directly. The Tigers can ask for a top tier pitching prospect as part of a trade package. I suppose we can debate whether or not that is a replacement for Skubal based on current value, and that's fine. But they're also going to need to find some arms this offseason to begin with. Almost certainly in the bullpen, but probably more rotation depth as well.
  4. Whoa, hold on. Don't get greedy. Can't do that today. It's only the 2th game of a 4 game series. Might as well win this game today.
  5. I didn't prove anything for you. Is the internet working for you? Can you not research your own theory?
  6. She’s a Cleveland fan before they moved to this stadium. She understands losing.
  7. 3 runs is curly fries. 8 runs is the team bus chauffeur gets to pitch an inning.
  8. I shudder to imagine how this could’of gone without this early sage advice.
  9. I don’t want to see him dealt, but if the Tigers get an offer that they cannot refuse, it’s understandable. They’re closer to the playoffs than they’ve been in a long time. Unfortunately Flaherty probably gets dealt and Olson just landed on the IL. Mize has been on the IL, and Maeda has been awful. The rotation has really kept them around for this long. But with the Flaherty and Olson situations, it looks like a daunting task to make up ground between now and the playoffs. Dealing Skubal leaves a giant hole in the rotation. I don’t know how a team fills that void. It starts with better depth. But there needs to be quality with the quantity and Skubal is of utmost quality.
  10. Yes, I think the mandated 4 or 5 guys over .800 is a stretch (although that’d be awfully darn fun). I glanced through some of the better offenses and only the Dodgers, Orioles, and Phillies fit the bill.
  11. My wife is a Cleveland fan and our driveway is dry. Play on.
  12. I'm disappointed he wasn't eating something whilst giving the speech.
  13. We were all so young and innocent then.
  14. Bob Nightengale reports that the Orioles and Dodgers have had talks with Tigers about Tarik Skubal. Wow, this kind of came out of nowhere, eh?
  15. Harris reads the forum. Finally agrees with you MTFers that think the dynamic duo is ready for a promotion.
  16. So suddenly Madden’s 8+ ERA doesn’t look so bad compared to that line.
  17. Ibanez doesn’t do well vs RHP, so I’m fine with him facing LHP (which he crushes) exclusively. The tricky part there is Keith is coming alive and I’d like to see him face LHP as part of his maturation. So where does that platoon for Ibanez come in? I agree with you about Vierling playing everyday. But I think everyone is getting a day off by design during this 10 game stretch. Greene didn’t play yesterday vs the LHSP and it was mentioned that it’s RHSPs from here until the next day off. So, if Greene is sitting a game, I have to believe everyone is going to be sitting once. And, sure, part of Greene sitting might be because he didn’t get as much of a break as everyone else because of the all star game. I suppose that could be part of his day off equation that doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone else.
  18. I don’t know about a rout. Varsho’s play in the 8th was well executed and saved the game for Toronto. Springer (had a day) made that catch in the 1st which was nice, but not nearly as stress inducing in terms of probability of making it nor timing of game as Varsho’s catch. Kind of wish he’d have lost this one in the sun rather than Perez’ home run yesterday. What’s the third one that I’m missing?
  19. Finally, something we can all agree upon. 😆
  20. I don’t know. I’m not sure any team can handle multiple bullpen days throughout a trip through the rotation for an extended period. It seems like it’d be too taxing on the bullpen.
  21. In the grand scheme, they won the series and they’re going to win the Cleveland series, so that will get them back to .500. And then from there, we’ll see what they can do.
  22. And so the Bligh Madris experience (not to be confused with the Jimi Hendrix Experience) gets underway starting today.
