  1. I'm probably wrong, that's usually the default, but it seems like I have not seen a Tiger series in Seattle since before COVID. It seems like the Tigers are always in Seattle during the work week, and they are all night games. This does not jive at all with my schedule.
  2. I heard this on a national show. 15-8 for July.
  3. Ohtani is signing with the Blue Jays.
  4. Y’all know the ballad of Joel Youngblood, right? Actually, it’s probably more of a story than a ballad. https://www.mlb.com/news/joel-youngblood-two-hits-for-two-teams
  5. I’m not impressed. There’s one or two of those in Toledo. Except they don’t say NASHVILLE on it.
  6. I hope not. Sounds like a risky hazard that might injure Greene.
  7. Ah, the good old days when all star players wore their individual team’s pajamas for the game instead of the horse**** league jerseys.
  8. I put a letter in the mailbox. Rob Miller inspired me.
  9. Why do you hate Nashville?
  10. Ok. Specifically which 20?
  11. Jansen can be first to play for both sides in game This could be an interesting byproduct of finishing out a previously suspended game.
  12. You're killing me. Apostrophize that stuff.
  13. Numbers don't lie, do they?
  14. I thought I heard that as well.
  15. Miller stunk today. Having said that, he allows fewer runners per inning than everyone else in the bullpen not named Holton. The gopher ball has been his undoing. That plate appearance before Melendez was certainly a warning, but it’d have been too late to get someone up and ready. I suppose Hinch deserves some second guessing about not getting someone up once the second base runner got on. And I guess given the two run lead, maybe that should have happened after the first runner got on. But, yeah, reliever roulette and a poor offense. Take away the extra innings and the Tigers scored 7 runs in a 4 game set vs Kansas City. Add in the Cleveland and Minnesota home games, and it’s 21 runs in 9 games excluding the extra inning points.
  16. Probably due to pitching two innings the game before. Let’s also give the (lack of) offense it’s due criticism.
  17. Isn’t the whole Tiger sub forum of this joint nothing but a bunch of random baseball posts in the grand scheme of life?
  18. Would’of made the highlight clips on This Week in Baseball.
  19. Wait, has the Louvre been notified of these breaking developments?
  20. He was 78 and still had the zest to call the game. He mentioned stories about other duties he had like traveling secretary and stuff like that. He’d pop up from his Florida winter home once in a while to “broadcast” a hockey game with Melzak. But, yeah, to call your home town baseball team for nearly 50 years on radio and eventually television. That’s not a bad gig. Melzak started young. He had quite the admiration for the long Fort Wayne hockey announcer ….. ugh, the name escapes me, but you’ll know it. I kind of suspect Melzak has a long career with the Toledo minor league teams.
  21. If the Tigers are satisfied with Torkelson’s efforts, I’m for his recall. If the Tigers are satisfied with Jung’s efforts, let’s see what’s up. This season is done and it’s time to figure things out for next season.
  22. Yes, he did. I haven’t caught much this season, but whenever I watched, Weber was on the call. I assume Matt Melzak picks up full time play by play to finish this season and they look to fill the role in the off-season. Melzak has been the play by play for the Walleye, going back to when they were previously the Storm, and has also done quite a bit of work with the Mud Hens. Hockey season picks up well after baseball, and both teams are owned and operated by the same group, so my worthless outside guess is that would be the arrangement for now. I didn’t realize Weber was a native Toledoan. Melzak is as well. So, that’s kind of an interesting footnote to the lineage of Toledo sports broadcasting.
  23. Mud Hens longtime play-by-play announcer Jim Weber dies at 78
  24. We should probably change the subject. How about discussing the impotent offense?
