  1. I guess we’re done with the substitute teacher.
  2. A few of us here have still been in touch with Walt via computer sim baseball. The league is still in a great deal of shock. I think its safe to say it was completely out of the blue. I had intended to pass along an obit when it was available. I know it'd been a while since he was around here, but I figured some of you might remember him. Somehow Yooper found out about it and informed he rest of us on Sunday. I think we still had some blind hope that he'd recover and then blast us for getting all sappy about him. Unfortunately that wasn't to be. It's especially heartbreaking to think of how he was found. Bless his daughter for trying to save him. I hope she gets all of the help she needs to deal with that trauma.
  3. And the middle paragraph is the most important issue this election. The first debate was a poor SNL skit. Neither candidate might make it through the next term. But allowing Trump any time at all back in the chair is a plea for chaos and destruction by someone who has no concern for anything but himself.
  4. Make sure you enunciate that "l" properly in reference to my post.
  5. He's probably faced better lineups in the PCL.
  6. So sad I missed the part where two doddering old fools were **** waving about their golf games.
  7. Nice to see the hitters read this thread before the game.
  8. The other old guy will be planning a national emergency on day one if elected. These are the two choices we have. How many people in this country, and these are the two choices we have for the presidency?
  9. Skubal for Castro, but maybe there’s some gap to fill in?
  10. To me it just depends upon the entirety of the deal. If there’s a top tier prospect in AAA ready to promote, I think that could work in lieu of an established player. I would prefer prospects that are closer to their MLB debuts. I don’t want a trio of guys in A and high A.
  11. Pitching his guts out.
  12. I was thinking about another team drafting him in order to squeeze the Lakers a bit or entice LeBron to town. If neither happen, then the team is stuck with someone not at all ready for the NBA, maybe not even ready for the G, So is the possible reward worth the risk?
  13. Its a data point on Harris' resume. It won't be all data points in one direction. Hopefully there's much more to the good than the bad. I understood dumping him and Candelario. I don't think it was a black and white decision for either (even Castro who had shown improvement in cutting down SO% and was still young and seemed to have taken to OF). But in hindsight seeing how they've had success after leaving Detroit, its a not happy feeling.
  14. Looks at calendar to see if its April Fool's Day in June.
  15. Yeah, I think that's a little odd.
  16. This team can’t even mime a shot into the basket.
  17. “Hey Gert, could you kindly zipper merge out of my way?”
  18. Randy Smith or Al Avila? Poke in the eye or kick in the nuts?
  19. I guess it depends upon the trade. I would like to see what the new coach can do for their development. Maybe the way I am looking at them is, I wouldn't necessarily look to move them, but they are available for potential (draft picks, young players).
  20. Wet parking lot alert.
  21. I think Canha is an example of this. He has unfortunately been pressed higher into the lineup than was probably the design. But Harris saw value in the remaining season of his contract (team option I think) and traded for him to pick up the option rather than risk him on the free agent market.
  22. "Sometimes broadcasts can become echo chambers of conventional baseball wisdom .... I really appreciate how you two try to inject different angles and theories into the game" is probably what was the dig. Its shortly after the 40 minute mark. Edit to add: I don't remember if Shepard was guilty of echo chambering or not. I don't remember of he avoided other lines of thought. I know Gibson has been good about bringing up choices and what ifs as moments in a game approach. So, I guess I don't know if that was a dig at anyone in particular or in general, or heck, maybe it was just nothing more than a compliment with no back handed malice intended for anyone? Is it allowable to do that in society anymore?
  23. Or, perhaps, limiting a gapper to a single, or keeping a runner from taking an extra base. I'm kind of surprised Harris (or Dickerson or Benetti) didn't bring that up.
