  1. Does Vegas have lines for ESPN sports like cornhole or the X games? Is the X games even still a thing? Or niche things like the National Tractor Pull?
  2. Is this a flex to get the Lakers (or someone else) to sign Bronny as a free agent?
  3. I was thinking Cocoon.
  4. That's an example of waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
  5. I agree, he might have a better future as a RP. However, the Tigers do need reserves in the minors at SP to be called up as the 6th, 7th, 8th SP. So with the option available, he's been able to serve as the 6th SP. That was going to be one of Manning, Mize, and Olson, and Manning drew the short straw. At some point, one of the 1-5 SPs will succumb to injury. Manning will be the fill in this season. Perhaps he establishes himself as a SP going forward. Maybe they convert him to RP after this season. He could also be traded if the Tigers build up enough depth in the minors and/or make some offseason moves. But it seems doubtful that he'll be in the bullpen this season.
  6. The situation as Dickerson alluded to on the radio, is that there are 3 games within 24 hours. Obviously nobody is pitching in both games today. If Foley goes too many pitches today, that takes him out for tomorrow as well. Personally I think he was in for 4 batters if Chafin got through the first 2 of the 8th. So maybe Foley goes 20 pitches and can be used tomorrow. Obviously that didn't work out. Now, I do think maybe Hinch got a little greedy. You try to win the game at hand. So, I can see trotting Foley out there again in the 9th. But, there are no guarantees that he saves it. The Cardinals have looked pretty blah and the Tiger bullpen has been pretty good. So, maybe there is room to save Foley for tomorrow. Sometimes these decisions are more hazy than they are black and white. I didn't find my inner voice arguing against pulling Foley as I was listening to the game, so I'm probably not entitled to complain about the decision.
  7. I don’t think that was the issue. The lack of offense seemed to be a larger issue.
  8. That’s why I have a couple on ignore.
  9. See, I thought this would helpful information.
  10. Whatever you do, never, ever admit to your own foibles. Always be defensive. Play it just like your avatar would. Right down to the CAPITALIZED letters.
  11. Kyle Gibson's OPS against is .840 in Detroit as opposed to his career line of .748. If that does anything for you on a nice warm day.
  12. Seems the most likely scenario.
  13. The Tigers are 16-12. Who is unhappy right now?
  14. Actually, it was Jim's post I was thinking of. But to add to it, sure, I am not surprised you were optimistic about ENTER PROSPCT NAME HERE.
  15. The Nuggets may have won the series, but the Lakers have that sweet, kick ass inaugural midseason championship banner.
  16. Yup, here it is.
  17. I don’t think it has to be a pitcher. I think it can be anyone on the 40 man roster. The bullpen should be in good shape. There are a few Thursdays off here (last week, this week, next week). They could simply push the SPs back a day and use another bat for the doubleheader. It just ends up as someone else for Hinch to PH or PR with. Or there is the catching situation (which as @gehringer_2 mentioned, at this point just put Kelly on the IL and call up Dingler). On the other hand, recall Manning and let him pitch another MLB game. He’s pitching fine in the early going and so this is a bit of a reward for him. This helps reduce the workload on the starting 5 by another game, for whatever that is worth. Everyone gets pushed back another day, so a little extra early season rest.
  18. Drat. Was really looking forward to some baseball tonight. So, I wonder how Carson Kelly is doing? The Tigers probably dodged that this weekend, but they definitely need two catchers tomorrow. In theory, the bullpen should be in good shape and Thursday is an off day. They could pull Dingler up as the 27th dude just in case. But this would break protocol with Manning as the designated 27th man.
  19. Remote control shock collars?
  20. Indy has his number.
  21. Well, he did pull off and avoid a collision. So there’s that bit of positive. I don’t know, I only saw it on TV. Perez didn’t yield even though you could see Meadows calling it. Did Perez hear Meadows and forget who was the CF? Was Meadows not loud enough for Perez to hear? Tough to know for sure. The CF is supposed to take charge, but if the communication doesn’t work out, how do we know for certain where the breakdown was?
  22. I don’t know when Urshela is due back. Things could be different by then. To me, Meadows looks more lost at the plate but has been the better asset on defense. Perez has been playing and they’ve used him in CF a bit. So they could cover CF with Perez and Vierling with Urshela (and Vierling) at 3B and Keith and Ibanez at 2B. If they send Keith down, that’s Meadows and probably a little Vierling in CF, Vierling and Urshela at 3B, Ibanez and McKinstry at 2B. Urshela hasn’t played much 2B, but maybe it wouldn’t be tough for him? I don’t know, it seems like the playing time and depth charts are more amenable to keeping Keith, but again, what will things look like when Urshela is ready to return?
  23. He’s already had an error. It was one of his first games with Detroit. He was in RF and Meadows was in CF. There was a fly ball between them, Meadows was calling for it but yielded to Perez. Neither caught it, multibase error to Perez. I remember noting how most of Perez’ OF experience was in CF and questioned if they were both calling for it.
  24. The problem is nobody bunts. We saw Vierling try it earlier this season. Complete failure. I doubt Meadows, or anyone, has done much bunting in the minors.
