  1. To me it just depends upon the entirety of the deal. If there’s a top tier prospect in AAA ready to promote, I think that could work in lieu of an established player. I would prefer prospects that are closer to their MLB debuts. I don’t want a trio of guys in A and high A.
  2. Pitching his guts out.
  3. I was thinking about another team drafting him in order to squeeze the Lakers a bit or entice LeBron to town. If neither happen, then the team is stuck with someone not at all ready for the NBA, maybe not even ready for the G, So is the possible reward worth the risk?
  4. Its a data point on Harris' resume. It won't be all data points in one direction. Hopefully there's much more to the good than the bad. I understood dumping him and Candelario. I don't think it was a black and white decision for either (even Castro who had shown improvement in cutting down SO% and was still young and seemed to have taken to OF). But in hindsight seeing how they've had success after leaving Detroit, its a not happy feeling.
  5. Looks at calendar to see if its April Fool's Day in June.
  6. Yeah, I think that's a little odd.
  7. This team can’t even mime a shot into the basket.
  8. “Hey Gert, could you kindly zipper merge out of my way?”
  9. Randy Smith or Al Avila? Poke in the eye or kick in the nuts?
  10. I guess it depends upon the trade. I would like to see what the new coach can do for their development. Maybe the way I am looking at them is, I wouldn't necessarily look to move them, but they are available for potential (draft picks, young players).
  11. Wet parking lot alert.
  12. I think Canha is an example of this. He has unfortunately been pressed higher into the lineup than was probably the design. But Harris saw value in the remaining season of his contract (team option I think) and traded for him to pick up the option rather than risk him on the free agent market.
  13. "Sometimes broadcasts can become echo chambers of conventional baseball wisdom .... I really appreciate how you two try to inject different angles and theories into the game" is probably what was the dig. Its shortly after the 40 minute mark. Edit to add: I don't remember if Shepard was guilty of echo chambering or not. I don't remember of he avoided other lines of thought. I know Gibson has been good about bringing up choices and what ifs as moments in a game approach. So, I guess I don't know if that was a dig at anyone in particular or in general, or heck, maybe it was just nothing more than a compliment with no back handed malice intended for anyone? Is it allowable to do that in society anymore?
  14. Or, perhaps, limiting a gapper to a single, or keeping a runner from taking an extra base. I'm kind of surprised Harris (or Dickerson or Benetti) didn't bring that up.
  15. Sigh,.... well, OK, if you insist.
  16. Nothing wrong with saying it. That team came out of nowhere and that was their lone playoff trip.
  17. I suspect this might be true. Or maybe too much loyalty? Mike Ilitch had been called too loyal at times. Just look how long he kept someone like Randy Smith around even when it was obvious that he wasn't cut out for the role.
  18. I think the Pistons are on a re-re-rebuild.
  19. The parking lot at work is soaked.
  20. I don't know. I think Keith and Malloy aren't exactly too dissimilar from each other on some of their non traditional metrics. Perez is earning his stay.
  21. Who do you bring up in place of McKinstry, Baddoo, and Kreidler right now? Meadows' numerals look good, but has he done what has been asked of him?
  22. Oh, I'm not suggesting they go all Whitey Herzog Missouri track team without home run threat up and down the order. They'll need to have some power threat, even if its not big bopper types.
  23. I heard that, its towards the end of the podcast if anyone wants to listen to it. I liked watching the Brewers' brand of baseball that series but hadn't connected it to Comerica. I've always wanted an OF with range and defensive skill sets to go with an offense that gets on base and creates havoc on the bases since they moved in there. They've never quite accomplished that.
